Hotels in Biloxi/Gulfport MS

I am driving to/from WDW in mid Nov and am in need of some recommendations on hotels in the Gulfport/Biloxi area.

Does anyone have tips, favs, must stay away froms, etc that would be helpful since I am not real familiar with that area?

TIA
Shelley

I am from the Gulf Coast. Katrina has pretty much destroyed the majority of what was there, and the smaller chains have not been able to make a big comeback. Are you looking off the I-10 area in Gulfport, or closer to the beach and HWY 90 in either Gulfport or Biloxi?

Geez...pre-Katrina I could've helped you out...but I have no idea what's still around.

The Beau Rivage is nice...but might be a bit much if you're just looking for some place to crash for a night.

Good luck!

Beach area with easy access to and from I-10 if possible. Sunrise on the beach is nice, if weather permits.

Biloxi is your best choice, then. I-10 runs into I-110 and meets HWY 90, which runs right along the beach. There are several casinos along that area that have their hotels up and running. The Imperial Palace, the Palace and the Beau Rivage all come to mind as good hotels right near the beach. There's also a Holiday Inn and a Hampton Inn in the area. I can get you phone numbers if you would like, or you can just google the names in Biloxi. I hope this helps.

there are a ton of nice hotels along the beach.

Best western Oak manor right in the heart of the casino strip is my fav. But there are some others too, like i think a Laquinta, Holiday Inn, Radisson just to name a few.

We go to the Gulf Coast all the time. We r from new orleans.

Good luck in your decision.

Thanks so much. It does sound like Biloxi is the way to go with the highways. I don't want to get "lost" or drive around like a tourist since I am not real familiar with the area. I should be able to google the information, if not I'll let ya know!

Thank you for the information. I am way more familiar with New Orleans than MS. I am from Houston so NO is a good escape for us.

My DMom is traveling with me this time and she didn't really want to travel to NO this trip but my DD and I stopped there on our way back from WDW in June. I had not been there since Katrina and thought the French QTR/Bourbon street area looked pretty close to what it did before.

There was a festival going on and we enjoyed some yummy fried green tomatoes with a spicy remoulade sauce.

Shelley,

I think u r talking about the Tomato fest we had in June. New Orleans has come a long way since Katrina. the festivals r up and running again. July 4th we had Essence fest. Halloween weekend we r having Voodoo Fest and Jazz fest was back in May. My friends parents moved to Houston to open a church. She is a student here at Loyola and goes home on holidays. She likes the Houston area. Gulfport/Biloxi is easy to navigate. Once u get off I-10 u will see the Prime Outlets, and a whole bunch of hotels on the main Hwy which eventually bring u to the Beach area. try looking up the Best Western Oak Manor. Its one of my favs in Biloxi ever since we stayed there for my cousins wedding last yr.

Good luck in your decision on where to stay.

Thanks Bridget - yes it was the tomato festival! We had a good time and the sounds (music) was a welcoming sign!! Houston hosted the Essence festival the year after Katrina. Houston was estatic even though there were numerous complaints about how spread out the festival was here. Unfortunately Houston isn't built for compacting things. I call it the Blob and one day San Antonio, Dallas and Beaumont will be our next door neighbors instead of being 2-3 hours drives from here!

Glad your friend is enjoying Houston on her visits. We like it occassionally. HAHA

I will definitely check out the Best Western!! Sounds like where we want to be!
