Luggage Size Question Please

Does anyone know how Delta measures luggage for their oversize limits? I have 2 suitcases that are at the limit for size when they are empty but I think that's why the airlines chose their size limits, our luggage is standard American Tourister. Do they take any bulging into account or do they just use the general dimensions of the luggage. Your experiences would be greatly appreciated. TIA!!

Ken

I am not 100% sure, but I would think as long as you don't open any extra zippers to expand the suitcase (mine has these, hope you know what I am talking about) and just pack the suitcase that fits the limits empty that it will be ok. I don't think they are super picky about this (meaning that if part of the suitcase is bulged like a half inch over or something I think they let it slide).

As far as I know the airlines all measure heights+width+depth (including expansion if used). Most airlines are 62" for checked baggage.
Delta uses that standared 62" and 50lbs .

Most airlines measure the whole bag. From the bottom of the wheels to the tops of the handles. then for the sides, they measure up to and including any bulges.

And watch out for the weight. That has come close to getting me oversize charges more than once!
