| DME without the Tags Question Luke called and confirmed our DME about 3 weeks ago. I suddenly realized this afternoon that we had not received our documents. He did call this afternoon and we are scheduled for pick up, but we won't get our documents. Now I know that this has happened to other PPers here. What I'd like to know is how will DME know our luggage? I'm guessing I'll give them my luggage documents from the airline, but I'd like to know how this has worked for others. Luke couldn't quite remember what the CM had told him. And he doesn't feel like being on hold another 15 minutes. If no one knows, I'll call back the first of the week. for your help!

| We didn't have enough tags for our last trip, so when we got to MCO and checked in at DME we gave them our luggage barcodes from the airline. There were no problems ... all of our luggage was dropped off at the room with no issues whatsoever! Good luck! Hope it's a smooth for you, too!

| There are a few ways Cam - not to worry! The way DisneyBri posted is one. Another way is to grab the luggage yourself and go to the DME desk and they will take it from there, and another way is that DME has a luggage guide chart for you to look at and describe your luggage to them. They will retrieve it for you. If you are going to use that way I suggest tying something unusual on the handle or have something really identifiable to your pieces.

This is what I did the one time I did not receive my tags in time. I checked in with DME, gave them my luggage info from the airline, then looked at the chart and picked what was similar to mine, also described each piece, then boarded DME. My luggage was delivered to WL without any problems. I agree with lukeandbrookesmom that having something that makes it easier to identify may help. Mine has Mickey on it so I'm sure that made it easier, they know where it was going !!!

| coming in late on this but I have planned last minute trips with no time for tags to arrive. I gave them luggage color and I usually have a identifiable hankerchief tied to it ( helps me too) Mine have bright smiley faces tied to the handle. Have a great trip

| LOLOL This makes me laugh as when DH and I went to WDW in September, at the time I booked DME, I only ordered 2 tags . Well, then I remembered who I am and realized too late that we weren't going to have enough tags (since we were bringing a 3rd suitcase). So DH calls DME and is told to "make our suitcase stand out and check-in at the counter when we get to Orlando." So to make it stand out, he tried to replicate the DME tag. It was 3x the size of the real DME tag, highlighted neon yellow, and he had even tried to draw the Mickey logo!! I looked at that thing the morning we were leaving and laughed and snorted all the way out to the car. Hey, he tried...but it was too funny! Even the guy at the counter laughed at us when we told him what we did. We were a first, according to him! So, moral of the story, do something clever like a hankerchief, etc. as noted above...not what we tried.

| Wow, wish I had asked this question before our last trip! The CM did not give us such great advice. We picked up our own luggage and brought it to the DME desk ourselves. It was a pain, but we were happy to have access to our luggage right away upon arriving at the resort. I do like the hanki idea!

| i'm not 100% on how it works now with international (minus Canada) now that DME doesn't send tags. In the past, regardless, you had to claim your bags anyway to go through customs. then you'd use the yellow tags when putting it back on the belt. dunno if the DME desk would still be able to claim them based on whatever information. I can't see why it would be different than domestic without the tags though.

| Hey Cam! This happened to me last year. I talked to DME and it was confirmed that I was to be using their service. When we got to MCO and went to the DME check in area the woman showed us pictures of luggage. We had to point out what ours looked like and the color. The luggage was at our hotel just as if we had used the tags. If I had it to do again, knowing I would have to look at pictures and describe my luggage (which btw I had forgotten what it looked like by the time I was at MCO and ready to be at Disney) I would have taken a picture of the luggage so I could just show them at the desk. Also, when I called to verify they would be picking me up, the person I spoke with told me I could make my own tags and put them on my luggage. He advised me I could use yellow paper and just mark it with the resort code or use white paper and highlight the resort code with a yellow highlighter. Either way, and no matter what, even without the tags....your luggage will arrive safe and sound to your resort and the people at MCO will have your name on the list and you will not have any issues at all. P.S. When this happened to us last year, we arrived at MCO ready to board the bus to All Start Sports. Once we got to MCO the person there asked me to walk to the end of the counter. At the end of the counter she pulled out an envelope and handed it to me. It was boarding passes for the bus to Saratoga Springs. I was in shock. We had been upgraded for free. I asked what it was about it and she told me to just accept it and enjoy the free upgrade. When we got to SSR the CM pulled up my reservation using the paper from the envelope. She went to the back to get a manager. He came out and presented me with yet another envelope. Inside was $250.00 in Disney Dollars. What a huge huge huge surprise. I am not sure why this happened to us but I certainly am glad it did. I was so worried about things going wrong or being messed up without the DME tags and in the end, everything worked out for the better. I know it has nothing to do with the tags but after all that worrying I was sent somewhere special and received special gifts. Who could ask for more???? |

| I have never used ME before - when you check out at your hotel I think you check your bag, right? Do you have to go back your hotel in order to catch the ME back to the airport? Or can you get on at any WDW theme park or resort? |
