| Wait or buy now? UPDATE: I bought! We are looking to buy plane tickets for March 5-12 from Detroit, and the cheapest are running about $250-300. Bing Travel's price predictor is saying to wait, but what are my chances that the price will come down? This is a high volume season so I'm not getting my hopes up too much. UPDATE: I feel so smart, although I'm sure other people have thought of it...in my searching, I found a really cheap Delta flight into Orlando that was the time we wanted, but with the flight back to Detroit that we needed, it was pretty expensive. Then I searched Southwest, and it was the opposite...expensive flight into Orlando, but cheap flight into Detroit. So I thought...what if I booked one-way tickets? I ended up saving about $90 total doing it that way, and I got all the flight times we wanted. Hooray!

| I have read a couple news stories that fuel prices are on the rise again...and they expect airfares to rise accordingly. But who knows? These predictions often don't come true...

| Have you checked them previously to see if they have gone up or down in the last few weeks or months? I would say wait, but like others said, watch closely. It is so hard to predict airline prices because they seem to change for no reason. We just booked tix to South Africa for next summer. It was $1700 a piece a few months ago, but we didn't buy because we were unsure of our dates. Then just a month ago, the SAME tickets were $3500 a piece!!! So we decided to take our chances and we just booked the same flights a couple days ago for $2100 a piece. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it.

| March is a long way off. Prices are probably going to hover in the same range for a while before they head either north or south.

| I agree with Dave. What I normally do is constantly watch the airline website to see what prices are doing. If they hit a super low price I go ahead and book them. Otherwise I just watch and make sure seats are available and then book closer to my trip. |

| Count me in the "Watching Airline Rates Group" as our trip is in Feb. but I am not happy with the rates posted at this time. CNN had posted that holiday tickets this year would be cheaper than last year but I don't know if that will trickle out through Feb and March. Appears the rates get cheaper the closer the date arrives but I am worried we will run into bad seating. It is a waiting game!!! Good Luck and I hope we all get some good rates soon!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
