Question Taking DME from Resort to Airport

Our flight home is at 5:10, so I'm wondering what time we have to catch the DME to the airport? Also, if we have time to do something before we have to catch the bus, what do we do with our luggage? Do you HAVE to catch DME from your resort, or what if we end up at Downtown or another resort for lunch or something like that. I'm guessing that might not be a good idea.

Anyway, the first thing is how early do you get the DME to go back to airport?

I believe it's 3 hours prior to your flight as a rule of thumb. (For our 7:30pm flight our DME was scheduled at 4:30pm)
We stored our luggage with Bell Services in the morning then went to MK for the day. We just made sure to be back at the resort by about 4:10pm to retrieve our luggage and get on the bus. I'm thinking you would have to catch the DME at your own resort...even if you could go from another resort, would you want to drag your luggage around? (Oh, unless you get to check it at the resort...we flew SWA and couldn't do that!)

well... typically our return trip the airport has been approximately 2 1/2 to 3 hours prior to my flight time. It will depend on how many people are being picked up in the same "flight window" as you.

You will need to be picked up at your resort unless you make arrangements for a car service.

Either way you'll have a few hours in the morning to explore before you leave

DME will have you scheduled for pick up from YOUR resort 3 hours before your flight. They will store your bag for you though. Depending on where you are staying you could do a late breakfast or early lunch in one of the parks though.

You'll be picked up about 2pm from your hotel and the day before your departure they'll hang an envelope on your door (it's been there when I've left in the morning) the contents will tell you exactly what time your pick up is and other check out/departure information. For the last day of my up coming February trip I booked a 7:10am Chef Mickey's breakfast and then plan to head over to MK or DtD untill about 1-1:30 before heading back to POR to board DME about 3:30. This way I'll have enough time to fill my mug and possibly get something to eat to take with me and retrieve my bags before boarding DME.

Thank you so much. Sounds like we can have a breakfast and just relax. We are at AKL, so we can just go enjoy the animals until about 2. It'll work out perfectly. Thanks again.

You can just relax and enjoy AKL, try asking for a late check out, if they can, they will give it to you. Then you can relax, have breakfast, enjoy the pool. If you can't get a late check-out bell services will store your luggage. If you wish to use the pool, they have change rooms with lockers, showers, soap, shampoo, by the pool, next to The Mara. Or you could nip into AK for the morning and enjoy the park.
Love AKL! Be sure you try the Zebra Domes!!! So yummy.

We were both picked up about three hours before our flights and mine was an international, which they knew. Maybe it's because we said we wanted to go on the same bus. I'd already checked in, so just had to drop my luggage, so going a bit later didn't bother me....

You do have to catch it at your resort. When you receive your packet it will tell you what time to be down at the bus stop. If you use the airline check in, you don't have to worry about storing your luggage because they will take it for you to the airport when you check it in the morning. If you have a carry on, bell services will hold it for your before you have to catch the bus.

They will leave a DME envelope on your room door the day before you're scheduled to depart and it will include the time of your DME pickup. We've always been picked up 3 hours prior to flight time, give or take 5 - 10 minutes.
