We haven't flown since 2006 so I'm just checking things out. With all these fees and restrictions I'm getting freaked out. We're flying Jet Blue in June and I was just on their website looking up the checked luggage requirements. I then went to measure my largest suitcase and it's too big according to the online information. It's a 29" (soft sided) upright that I used in 2005 and 2006 going to Disney - but we used American Airlines. We had no problems with it then. I think it's maybe 2" too large, but I included the plastic "stand" on the bottom in the measurements. Is this even something I should even be worried about? I'm thinking that as long as I keep it under the 50lb weight limit it should be allowed. We have 5 ticketed passengers and we'll probably have 3 checked bags. Jet Blue allows 1 free checked bag per ticket so we're all set there. What do you guys think? You clearly travel a great deal more than we do. Thanks for your advice!

you'd probably be okay, but might not want to push it. Why only 3 checked bags, if there are 5 of you? I'd go for 4 plus a duffel packed in one, in case you need more room on the way back. Smaller suitcases are a bit easier to deal with, and it's always good to KNOW that there is no reason for the airline to decline your luggage.

I think you're right - I'm just disappointed to not be able to use one I already own. I guess I need some justification to buy new luggage. Thanks for your advice!
