Transport-Poly to DCL to Poly

I've planned a honeymoon for July/Aug. which will have my wife and I (wow that sounds weird) doing the 4/3 trip then back to the Poly for a week after the cruise. I've heard the trip back (via the airport) can have some snags. Any experiences? Thoughts? Advice?

Re: Transport-Poly to DCL to Poly

The post-cruise trip back to WDW can be a problem. We haven't done the typical Land/Sea package thing (airport > WDW > cruise > airport) we only used cruise line transport from WDW > cruise > WDW (yes, we plopped a cruise right in the middle of a visit to WDW). As nearly everyone else was heading to the airport following the cruise, we were put in a plain old Mears shuttle van. Yuck!

As your ground transport is an extra-cost option, consider using Tiffany Towncar instead of cruise line transportation. You'll travel in style for each leg of your journey - no extra stops at other resorts or detours to the airport. You'll be pleasantly surprised by the price. It may be just the thing for a honeymoon.

You do lose some of the services provided by the Cruise Line reps at the airport, resort and Port Canaveral (you'll have to handle your own check-in at the Poly). You'll also be on your own with luggage, but your Tiffany driver will handle much of that for you.

Re: Transport-Poly to DCL to Poly

We did the same thing for our honeymoon last September and it worked out fine. We had five days at the Poly, the four night cruise, then a couple more days back at the Poly.

We had Tiffany Towncar from the airport to the Poly and back to the airport at the end of our trip. Then we did the DCL transfers from the Poly to the ship and back to the Poly. On the way to the ship we were on the big DCL bus but on the way back to the Poly we were loaded on to a Mears van with about six other people. The van was a little cramped with everyone's luggage, but it worked out fine. It went straight back to WDW and dropped each passenger(s) at their resort. I think we were the third and last drop for the driver.

We felt that using the DCL transfers was a definite benefit when it came to the luggage. Our bags were picked up in our room at the Poly and we didn't see them until we got to our stateroom on the ship. After the cruise we did have to pick up our bags and take them to the Mears van. But that wasn't bad at all.

Re: Transport-Poly to DCL to Poly

SarahJ,

Did you have to make any special arrangements for a direct shuttle back to the Poly?

Thanks to both you and Dave for your help!
