Newest carry-on regulations

The FAA is now limiting carry-ons to one bag plus a purse or a brief case.

Some airlines may chose to limit you to only one carry on, either a bag, a purse, or brief case.

Please contact your airline for their new requirements.

Re: Newest carry-on regulations

Thanks for the update, Fortissimo. My DH also heard this on the news last nite.
With the security issues, we have decided to streamline our packing to only the most essential items. We are hoping this will make checks more efficient for everyone involved.

Re: Newest carry-on regulations

Awesome! I'm really glad to hear that since I never check any bags (I hate standing like a mannequin staring at the Luggage Carousel of NO Progress); my entire week is in my carry-on. Of course the trip home is a totally different matter, plenty of blue, green and red bags to check then!!!

Re: Newest carry-on regulations

I was going to take an extra suitcase just for souveniers, but this might be a good time to have my purchases shipped home. I have done this before when I was buying breakable things that I didn't want to take on the plane. The shipping and handling is about the same as the tax would have been- it's tax free if it is shipped out of state- so it's like the shipping is free. (Does that make sense?)

Sure it does Mich
The cost benefit analysis of the price of the additional packages sent home outweighs the ratio of tax to shipping and handling charges minus insurance and packaging charges, eh?

Re: Newest carry-on regulations

As far as shipping home "stuff" from WDW. We go to WoD on one of our first days there. If you use your DC or DVC 10% discount, the discount offsets the shipping charge. In addition, you do not get charged sales tax on items shipped home. One more thing, we ship "stuff" home to our office at the start of our vacation. Often the "stuff" gets home before we do.

I like the one carry on rule. Maybe we'll get off the plane faster.

Re: Newest carry-on regulations

We're thinking of keeping all our packing down to essentials this trip, even if it means doing laundry Hopefully, it'll help us get thru airport security faster.

Shipping purchases home sounds like a great idea I think we'll have to look into doing that too - Thanks!

Re: Newest carry-on regulations

Just returned from MCO a few hours ago. Unfortunately was not able to go to WDW, was there due to a death in the family. Anyway, security at MCO (took JetBlue) is very strict. Random search of luggage, picture ID check three times. Although you can take one carry on we were advised to check in the luggage because they were searching all bags. Took the advice and checked our bags in order to avoid another luggage search. I was really happy to see that security was so strict. When we left JFK on Monday they were not as strict. They did not do a luggage search - just put everything through the x-ray machines. But they did do a body scan and checked picture ID twice. Hope this info is helpful.

Re: Newest carry-on regulations

Eve,

To get an idea of shipping costs, visit http://www.ups.com UPS is Disney's standard shipping method. You'll also encounter customs charges that you may not have encountered if you carried the goods home with you - check U.K. customs regulations to see whether that's an issue.
