Stroller / Gate Check in I am checking our double stroller at the gate (USAirways). has anyone done this, do I need to put the stroller in some sort of bag? Will it get dirty? I called the airline and they said I didn't need it in a bag, but I was just wondering what everyone else did? It's really big, I don't know what kind of bag I could fit it in.

Re: Stroller / Gate Check in I have only got a single stroller but I have never put it in a bag. I do however remove the hood, raincover & any other items that may come off & I pack these in a suitcase. I don't like risking them coming off in flight. I've never had a stroller damaged but once I had one come off the plain a bit dirty, it did wipe off. Hope this helps Lisa.

Re: Stroller / Gate Check in Last year, we checked our single stroller at the gate. It was the most wonderful thing. Right before we got on the plane, they took our stroller, tagged it and put it on the plane (not in the luggage area). I did not cover it. Then when we got off, it was set up waiting for us. This was all done with American Airlines. Kristine

Re: Stroller / Gate Check in You'll have to get a gate check ticket when you check in at the gate. You just put it on your stroller and leave it near the doorway before you enter the plane (when you board). I'd fold it up, as to prevent them from breaking it. We always wrap ours in garbage bags to prevent them from getting dirty. This year we had one that came with a traveling bag, and the bag was covered in black stuff when we picked it up in Orlando, so we were grateful for the cover

Re: Stroller / Gate Check in We only have a single stroller, but we've gate checked it with no problem. We didn't put it in a bag but we did fold it up for them. Each time we exited the plane it was already set up and waiting for us.

Re: Stroller / Gate Check in You can just wheel your stroller up to the gate, park it and it is carefully stowed away until your flight is over. We did this two weeks ago and it was wonderful. Even though our DS (5) preferred to walk through the airport, we used it to "ride" our carryons so we didn't have to carry so much. Enjoy your trip.

Re: Stroller / Gate Check in We always gate check our stroller! It's a great help with Tori and luggage. And yes, we do put her big travel stroller in a bag (because it cost us so darn much!) but not her umbrella stroller. It has gotten damaged (which the airlines DO NOT cover) but we've been able to fix the bent handles (strong Hubby!). We only take the umbrella stroller now because of Security and the space in the trunk of the rental car. Security at the airport makes you fold the stroller up and put it through the x-ray machine. If it doesn't fit you will be one the Lucky Travelers that gets pulled over into the Hand Inspection Line! They will hand inspect the stroller and anything attached to it. Doesn't usually take too much time but it all depends on the security person. Although, better safe than sorry, eh?

Re: Stroller / Gate Check in If you feel that you want a bag for it, www.onestepahead.com sells one. We have the carseat/booster bag that is very similar. Stephanie

Re: Stroller / Gate Check in Thanks everybody!! MaClaren makes a bag for it, but I didn't order it in time , so we'll have to do without. Hopefully it won't get too dirty or broken. Thanks for all of the info!!!
