We've been to both and I don't think you'll be disappointed at all with Disneyland. There's something very magical about it, as it's the only park that Walt ever experienced in his life and you can feel his influence there. Yes, it's a lot smaller, but they have a lot of unique attractions that you won't find in Disney World and some of the attractions that are the same between the two, we preferred in Disneyland. Amongst my favourites were Indiana Jones, Monsters Inc., Alice in Wonderland and Mr. Toad's Wild Ride. Their fireworks, Remember, are also superb.

The only thing that I disliked about Disneyland was that it does not have the same isolated feel as DisneyWorld. I really disliked the area around the park and found it pretty tacky.

The good thing was that although we stayed off site, you could walk to the park from the hotel.

My kids, then aged 7, 10 and 12, all really liked Disneyland as there was much less walking-I never heard complaints about hurting feet. They also liked the variety in the original Disneyland. That said they have not asked to go back while they have all been to DW several times and we have family in southern CA. I think though that that is more because DW is a 3 hr. direct flight and DL is much longer and requires a stop over. We also find many more things to so in SoCa. as it is not a "quick trip" for us.

Diane

I had the opportunity to visit DL while attending a conference in Anaheim 2 years ago. I loved it and can't wait to go back. The DL parks are much smaller than DW, but you don't really get that feeling at all. I also liked the fact that DL and California Adventure had some different rides than WDW. I went in early November, and the holiday decorations were up. The way they decorate the Haunted Mansion and Small World is amazing. Definately a must see. Go if you get the opportunity.
