Ok, I was playing around on expedia checking on hotel rates in Las Vegas. I have a $50. credit on Southwest and was thinking of maybe checking Vegas out. So in checking rates at different hotels I thought I would check out The Mirage just for the fun of it.
Not that I would be even close being able to afford it, but just wanted to check the rates. Well, no rooms avail. Ok, check another date a little later in the month.
mmm still nothing avail. checked a month later, same.
Checked the end of June, last week to be able too book with Expedia. Nothing avail.
Guess you have to book more then a year out with the Mirage? Has anyone even gotten a room at the Mirage with any of the co. like Expedia, Orbitz, ect.?
Nevermind, think I found my answer lol. I don't think the Mirage books past a 6 month period. I found a calender where you can find out the cheapest dates. They color the dates from White being the cheapest to a light green going to dark green for the most expensive. Past mid January the dates are grey. Some dates between are x's which means no rooms avail.
Sorry, should have researched further lol. I think I may talk mom or some one into sharing a room with me next Sept at the Mirage Early Sept when it is cheaper then the end It will be my Bday trip you could say.
I usually book with the hotels directly they usually offer the best rates and with Vegas they usually offer packages that include 2 for 1 drinks and other offers.
Another option would be if your flying Southwest Airlines is to try their Vacation site which i think is southwestvacations.com and book it as a package through them i have seen great prices through them and they usually include sightseeing tours of laughlin NV and the hoover dam as part of the package.
I know your talking about the Mirage but if you wanted to be a little more mid strip I would try maybe the Aladdin or MGM Grand. The Luxor looked like fun as well.
When I stayed in Vegas we stayed off strip but just 1 block from the Aladdin and right behind the Harley Davidson Cafe (which was very good by the way) at a hotel called The Carriage House. Its a Timeshare proprty but they rent their suites out for cash as well and had some decent rates. My grandma and I walked to the Aladdin every morning for breakfast then hit the strip for some walking tours of vegas.
I would sign up for their email promotions and get on their lists because they send out specials as well that way.
Any other questions let me know!

Thanks Amy and Marnie I will check out those other hotels too Amy.
It has been my dream to stay at the Mirage. To tell you the truth , the only reason why I ever wanted to go to Vegas was to see Sigfried and Roy, I love them and LOVE thier tigers and other wild cats. After what happend to Roy and they stopped performing, I figured no need to go now. BUT, thier tigers are still at the Mirage
Is that pathetic or what? I want to go see the tigers lol. I do want to check out the different themes of the hotels and such too though. I am not much of a gambler, so not really going to gamble. Well, maybe just a little.
The rates I got for 3 nights during the 2nd week of Sept were not bad though, it is actually doable if I had to. It was more the price of a mod at Disney with ap rates for the first night.
Thanks for your tips too Amy, I just may have some questions to ask you in the future
We got to see Siegfried and Roy many, many years ago; in fact my 'mother' got to go to their house and hang out (she owned a well-known antique store in Vegas, and her husband was a big wig in 'old time' Vegas). I was soooo jealous!

The Mirage is a nice hotel BUT please don't go there just for the tigers. We went there and it was so sad! They lie there all day in those "glass cages", looking completely bored. I felt so sorry for them.
We stayed at the Luxor and liked the hotel very much. You should check it out even if you don't stay there. IMO, pretty much every major hotel on the Strip would be great to stay at. My personal favorites are (in no particular order): Venetian, Bellagio, Luxor, and the one next to the Luxor that looks like a Medival castle (forgot the name).

I didn't want to say anything.... but I felt the exact same way. We stayed at MGM Grand and checked out other resorts/casinos. When we left The Mirage I was about to cry I felt so bad for those tigers. I'll bet the show was great, but they seem so sad just hanging out behind the glass.
I was in Vegas for four days and the last night we were there was when the big Sigfried & Roy accident went down. Utter chaos on the strip.
Stayed in MGM and it was absolutely gorgeous! The food was incredible-got there late on a Tuesday night so we ate at the Rainforest Cafe. The next day we hit MGM's buffet and were there for about 2 hours-and I'm not a big buffet fan, but this food was the BOMB!!
I'd love to get back out there soon-I have the Luxor on my wish-list of places to stay. If not the Luxor then probably the Hard Rock.....it's off the beaten path though.
