Anyone know anything about Atlanta? I don't!

We're flying into Atlanta later on this month for a dance competition and are having a "so close and yet so far" feeling when we see that our hotel (Westin Peachtree) is about 1/2 hour from the new American Girl store.

I guess we could take a cab, but does anyone know of any transportation companies that are reputable in the Atlanta area? That particular weekend is also the Children's parade and some huge football game, so I don't think renting a car is an option - we drive in enough traffic here near DC!

Thanks!!

Have you checked into the public transportation? Last time I was there it was pretty good. That might be an option.

My son went there this summer with his dad and had a blast, they picked up a city pass and for one price were able to go to the CNN building, the Coca Cola place, and the Zoo and I remember his dad mentioning other stuff they could do but didn't because of time factors.

We have family in Atlanta and usually have a car BUT we did do the Olympics and used Marta everyday. It was excellent service and very efficient. I think you would be pleased with it. Good luck! We did an American Girl weekend in April this year and have decided to make it an annual event! Have a blast! Bigred

The other thing you may want to consider adding is the new Georgia Aquarium. While I have not been yet - I have heard wonderful things from colleagues!! Good Luck!

Your hotel is centrally located in Downtown Atlanta, an easy walk to most attractions. As for American Girl, they put it way out in Alpharetta. From downtown take the Marta to the last North station (N11 I think). Then take the 143 Bus to the mall. Seems a bit much to do for an overpriced doll. Of course being from NY, my DDs each have one which we bought in NYC. Have fun in Atlanta.
