| We went 9 years ago, and we loved Yellowstone. We didn't get to see near as much as we wanted to. I would try to stay inside Yellowstone if possible, but the cabins, campsites, and lodges book up very early. It's a good drive to either Cody, WY or Jackson Hole from Yellowstone for lodging. I think you can stay in Montana closer, but we didn't travel up that way to find out. We drove from both the towns I mentioned, and it was a long long drive! Both towns are neat though and worth a visit. Be sure and visit the Irma Hotel in Cody - there is a gunfight there every evening, and the Irma has a nice dinner buffet. There's also a rodeo every night in Cody. Another cute little town we visited was Cook City, Montana - not very big, just one main road through the town. It was interesting to browse through the stores there. The Tetons you can see in a day, but Yellowstone - there is so much to see and do. We spent 2 days in Yellowstone. Saw Old Faithful of course, several falls, the paint pots. Did a few short walks/hikes to several different sites. Be on the lookout for wildlife, you never know when you might see a moose, bear, or buffalo. The Yellowstone Lodge was the inspiration for the WL at WDW, so definitely check it out. It's beautiful country, and a national treasure for sure!

| Thanks for that! We are actually staying at a lodge 3 miles outside of Yellowstone's east entrance and are there for 5 nights. Then on to Grand Teton for 3 nights. All the accommodations inside the park were booked! janet

| The east entrance is how we came in from Cody. We also took the Chief Joseph scenic highway which I think came in at the northeast entrance. Back when we went there wasn't anything between Cody and the northeast entrance, but that was a while back so I'm sure more things have been added. I can remember driving that way from Yellowstone to Cody and thinking that if something happened to us no one would ever find us - no signs of houses, gas stations, etc! That will be great if you're close to the gate, save a lot of driving time.

| I would have loved to stay inside the park but no such luck. Not a single room until sometime in mid September! Next time I will book sooner. We have a month to drop our son at school in Wisconsin, and visit Voyageurs NP, Yellowstone, Grand Teton and then on to Badlands and Black Hills. Should be pretty amazing, wish gas prices weren't so high!!

| Never been, but I will be there next Friday (6/7) for the day! I will be in Lander, WY for most of the week on a mission trip, and we are headed to Yellowstone for the day and spending the night in Jackson before heading back to Devner on Saturday for our 6 AM Sundya flight back home. Of couse they are calling for rain/snow showers on Friday!
