| Big Band Anyone? (wordy) I am so excited! One of my very favorite people in Air Force history also happens to be one of my favorite band leaders...Glenn Miller. Last year, I did an Air Force History speech on Maj. Glenn Miller. (Last year was the AF 60th Anniversary and the 65th Anniversary of US Air Forces in Europe) Through my research I found there is a festival honoring him at Twinwood Airfield (the airfield where his plane to Paris, in which he disappeared, took off from...the last time he was seen alive was before he stepped on to the plane). His nephew, John, hosts it. We went for 1 day last year and had a blast. I just made our full weekend reservations (23-25 August) for the whole festival today! We are camping in the airfield camping areas and will enjoy a full weekend of jazz, swing and big band! DH has even agreed to take a few swing lessons before we go!!!!!!! Sorry...just really excited. I'll post pics and a trip report after it is over. For now...if you are interested here is the link to the festival: Twinwood Festival and Rhythm Festival at Twinwood Arena

| Congrats! Have fun! The husband of the lady in my band plays sax with big band groups all around this area. DS and I play trombone, by the way...

| Trombone was Glenn's instrument! I used to play clarinet...could probably pick it up again easily...I was first chair from about 6th grade on. This is just such a great event...and it is a concert I can share with my kids that I don't have to worry about the lyrics and they gain an appreciation for music...not synthicized and re-mixed crud.

| I agree! Plain and simple for me. What you see is what you get. If we mess something up, that's just part of the show. Enjoy the festival. I was hoping to get to one today, but the 'honeydo' list is too long...
