Question Washington DC & Metrorail

We're going to DC this weekend and camping at Pohick Bay Regional Park in Lorton, Virginia. I'm wondering which is the best station at which to park and take the Metrorail into DC. That info and any other tips would be greatly appreciated from former vacationers or especially area residents.

I've gotten such a good handle on WDW transportation, I'd love to be able to handle DC's Metrorail just as well.

TIA! We're so looking forward to this vacation!

Here's a copy of the Metro map Metro - Metrorail System Map

Looks like your closest stop would be Franconia-Springfield on the Blue line

Was just going to post the Metro route map for you as well, but since Marnie got to it first . . .

We will getting to DC this Saturday and staying through the 6th . . . maybe we'll pass each other along the Mall at some point!

Be sure to check out the price of the one day pass. It may be less than your trip - or if you're riding the Metro a lot in one day, it's definitely the best.
Just FYI - if you travel 95 a little bit south of Lorton to Potomac Mills Mall - there's a Disney store!
Enjoy DC!

Thanks, everyone! DopeyGirl - We'll be around the Mall on Saturday the 28 and Monday the 30. I'll be the harried one with an 8yr old son, 7yr old daughter and 37yr old husband/kid (or is it kid/husband?).

KrisS - Luckily, we have about four or five Disney Stores within a 45 minute drive of our house (yes, we are blessed!) so DH won't even think of tarnishing his "educational" trip with that kind of mall.

Thanks everyone for your help! We'll definitely be looking into passes to last us both days and starting our Metro journey at the start of the blue line.

Is taking the metro from there better than VRE?
