I'm sure it's a lovely town, but

what is there to do in/around Waterloo Iowa?

We will be there this weekend for a gravestone dedication ceremony on Sat morning. The only way to get a hotel room was to book 2 nights so we won't head home until Sunday a.m.
What is there to do in Waterloo in an afternoon? I know there's an Irish fair in town this weekend (thus the hotel issues) but that's not really our thing.

They have one of those state tourism departments that makes everything look like it deserves a special trip. The littlest museum gets a glowing write up. We all know that's not necessarily so.
We leave Friday. I just was hoping to find a local or recent visitor who could point me to something worthwhile. Hanging out by the hotel pool isn't my idea of how to fill a day.

I don't know what things are fun or not, but the art museums look good if you like Wyeth. Things to do in Waterloo - Waterloo Iowa Conventions & Visitors Bureau
