| Hotels near Lumberton, NC or Florence SC ? Trying to get ready for our road trip to our new apartment in Florida. We are planning on driving straight to Florida and not using the Autotrain. So we need to have some options for where to stop overnight for 1 night. We tend to stop in Lumberton, NC or Florence, SC when we drove in the past but not sure what exits are the best to stop at? Are some safer then others? What hotels are near those towns? Thanks

| In Lumberton, plan on stopping at either exit 22 (where the SuperWalmart is) or exit 20. At exit 22, the Comfort Suites, Holiday Inn and Hampton Inn are all OK. At Exit 20, there is a Country Inn and Suites that is OK. I don't recommend any of the other hotels at that exit. There is a Fairfield Inn there that used to be OK, but I've heard bad things about it in the last couple of years.

| Thank so much writing those exits down and the hotels. Having a superwalmart would be nice so that we can stock up on drinks and food.

| Atkinson Inn and Suites. We came across this place when our van broke down in July. It is not part of a chain, but it was brand new. The beds were very comfortable. It is at exit 17. There is a Ruby Tuesday across the street. They do not have a pool. Here is one listing for it: Atkinson Inn And Suites - Lumberton North Carolina

| I know the owner of this hotel (my mother's old boss). I did not mention this hotel as the neighborhood at night is not the best in the world. I grew up in the neighborhood, so I can say that! Actually, the apartment I lived in from 5th grade til I left for college was located right next door where the Hardees now is! If you do decide to stay here, be sure to go in the store next door(Atkinson's) and say hey to my mother!!!

| We stayed in a Holiday Inn Express in Florence in June--- it's brand new and was really really nice. Had a great breakfast in the morning. We drove over to an Outback Steakhouse for dinner, and spent some time at a huge Barnes and Noble, there was a mall nearby too. I'd have to find and check my AAA book to see the exit. Let me know if you're interested, and I'll find it. |

| Dina that would be great if you could get me the exit so i can write it down so we have options! We are trying to decide our route and if we want to go straight down 95 or avoid NY, NJ, and Washington by using the 84-81-77?-26? route (may have the routes turned around) but someone said it only adds 3 hours to the trip and you avoid the turnpike, and the congestion around washington. But I am one to stick with what I know so we have to decide this before we leave obviously.

| I'll get the exit for you! we did 95, except for 495 in DE, and we took another road in Virgina (I wanna say 295, it sort of goes around Richmond). I just got AAA to make me a Trip Tik for the best route. |
