The only warning.... Christmas/New Year's Vacation is peak prices in Hawaii. You may want to consider a different honeymoon date (Many hotels will require a longer minimum stay and airfares might be higher.)

I know, indirectly, experience. My niece go married on the beach on New Year's eve and the costs were no where near the ads you see :

Congratulations

Congrats on your engagement!
Sulley and I have been to Hawaii (Oahu) twice and are headed back next spring. I would think you would find lower prices in August because you don't have everyone trying to get away from the winter weather. Good suggestion to get a visitor's guide. As to where to stay, I can't help with that as we stay at the Military's hotel on Waikiki. Good luck finding what you want!

Thanks to all!
I have expanded my honeymoon choices a little and we may go somewhere in the Carribbean or Bahamas that is not in the hurricane belt instead! Not exactly sure but I will keep you posted!

hello all,
Yes, you will get the crowds, but you may also get very high winds at that time of year. I have heard it can be very strange, not hurricanes maybe but uncomfortable.

But then, since it is a honeymoon----congrats; you won't be outside so much anyhoo!!!!

Waikiki was awesome and so was Mauii, do the Hana road trip for sure.

The holiday season is a busy time for Hawaii. The beaches are beautiful and rain frequent but the sun quickly returns. Remember they call it the "Rainbow state". I would decide what you would like to do as far as sight-seeing and relaxing to help determine which island you would like to visit. Each island offers something unique. We love Maui. Everyone should visit Pearl Harbor but otherwise we didn't really care for Oahu. Good luck with the wedding and all your planning.
