| Hawaii Help! So...... My DBF and I got engaged yesterday! ![]() ![]() And of course, being the crazy vacation planner that I am while my mom and sister ramble on about a thousand questions.... I just thought of honeymooning in Hawaii. We want to get married in the Fall, because nothing is comparible to Autumn in NY! I am thinking mid-October. Being a schoolteacher I can't really get off during the school year. So we were thinking of honeymooning December 26-January 1 since I my winter break is always encompassed in that. What do you guys think? Any Hawaiians or Hawaii veterans with some travel advice-- tips on airfare, where to stay, what to see... ect. I am prepared for people to tell me thats a horrible idea as much I want to hear that its PERFECT. What would the weather be like? Will it be rainy? Can I lay out on the beach and tan? Will it be super crowded? Help!

| Hawaii is great any time of year... I have been there twice in Jan and it is great! Yes you can hit the beach and get a tan! At holiday time I'm sure airfare will be a premium - just check regularly. Hotels - I would start planning where you want to go, just Oahu with waikiki & honolulu or out to Maui or Kauai? I would look to see what this years prices are like and go with that as a baseline. Oh and Congrats on the engagement!!!! |

| Congratulations on the engagement!!! Hawaii is beautiful any time of year. Because of the time of year, it will be more crowded then at other times, but you will have that no matter where you go that week. Also, the whales usually start to come in around that time, so if you go to Maui or Kaui you might get to see the whales between the islands. It is a very long flight and the time change on the way out kills you. Usually the trip home they put you on an overnight flight to minimize the change.

| We are also toying with the 3rd week in August next year. This way we could honeymoon the last week of August and I could be back before Labor Day for school. Is it busy in August? I feel like we could get better flight prices then.

| We lived there for three years and would love to go back! Remember from November through March is the rainy season. North Shores have huge waves during that time. There is a lot to do on any of the islands, just depending on what you want to get out of your vacation. We lived on Oahu and we eventually made it to all of the 130 beaches in the three years we lived there. Oahu is the most crowded of the islands, but it only felt that way during rush hour(s). If you are military, have family or friends that are military let me know because there are other unique options for a vacation in Hawaii. |

| Thanks! I feel like planning a trip to Hawaii would be soooo complicated. I don't even know where to start! First things first is that hopefully me and my parents can find a suitable hall for the wedding next weekend. This way we can set an exact date and know what time of the year we will be able to go. I really just want everything to be perfect.

If it is raining on one side of the island, just drive to the other side in under 45 minutes (on Oahu) you can be sunning on the beach again. If you stay on Oahu I recommend Waikiki, it has more of a Tropical feel. On The Big Island the Kona Coast is very nice and laid back, Hilo is more city like. | |

| I would say go to the web site and request a visitors guide and map any thing and everything you can get, also go get a few books on that state. I had family that went at the end of Jan/first of Feb this year and they booked with american airlines get away vacations from their web site. Also I would ask someone that lives there or getting ready to go to get you some pamthlets from where they are staying on things to do and see. Remeber if there is something you want to look for all opitons before you settle on the first place to be able to do it. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!! |

Weather .. well beautiful all year and no humidty which is why it is paradise. There are a few hotels that are wonderful to stay at. Also I heard that disney purchased Ko Olina which a wonderful park of the island. No matter where you go it will be perfect because you will be in wedding bliss. |

| Congrats!! I would look at some time on Oahu with the tourist things to do - and then some time on an out island like Kauai or Molaki... to get away from the crowds.
