| Kings Dominion in VA? Thinking ahead to next summer's vacation - has anyone ever been to Kings Dominion in Virginia? Is it a good place to take a 6 year old?

| We went there in 2005, when the boys were 5 and 8. Even though they have more rides for older kids, the Nickelodeon area had plenty for us to do... There was a Scooby-Doo coaster (like Big Thunder) and a Scooby-Doo mansion ride (like Buzz) as well as a Nickelodeon town where kids can drive battery powered cars (without a track), along with a bunch of other typical amusement park rides.

| There is also the waterpark in the park.... We've taken various nieces and nephews as well as our kids over the years. Everyone seems to have a pretty good time. DS still goes....it's just down the 'road' from us!

| Hi Pam, My family and I have gone to Kings Dominion. It is nice, by no means Disney.. but nice. There were several issues with rides breaking down, in fact we got stuck on the top of a kiddie roll-a-coaster, they came with crow bars and couldn't pry open the tie down bar, we had to squeeze out, and climb down the stairs(lots of fun! Kind of ruined it for my 8 y.o who's birthday it was that day) With that horror story aside, its nice for young one's, lots of kiddie rides, and the pools/waterslides are quite plentiful. There's a cute Dora show. My son is 8 and there was not alot of "mild" (AKA whimpy rides) for his age, and he was too big for the kiddie rides but too scared for the extreme rides. SOOO, if he is not afraid of the dare devil rides, it can be fun! Get the two day pass or season pass if you're going longer than 2 days. Good Luck! |

Over all we had a great time and would like to go back someday, now that the boys are getting older.

| I've gone there several times over the years. The last time, we got stuck on the Volcano roller coaster. It was for quite a long time (more than 30 min) and the staff was totally unapologetic about it, offered no updates, just sort of stared at us, stuck in there. Also, most of the trashcans were overflowing - yuk. They do have a lot of good rides, though. Its just not Disney, especially in terms of service. |

| We were there for a weekend at the beginning of the summer. There are alot of big rollercoasters, my 4 yr old rode 3 of the smaller roller coasters. Most of the people there seemed to be there for the rollercoasters. The boys had no wait for any of the kiddie rides. We did like the waterpark too. We stayed at the Best Western also. I was very surprised by the common areas outside. Our 1st night there we were at the pool, there were people playing tennis, table tennis, on a small playground, even using a putting green. It seemed like they were in the middle of a remodel, the room looked very old but all the outside areas were so nice.

| For me (And this is only my opinion) I would rather go to Busch Gardens Williamsburg than Kings Dominion. Kings Dominion is okay but it just seems that we enjoy Busch Gardens more. My kids are 5 and 3 and love Busch Gardens.

![]() We just don't bother with Kings Dominion anymore. After the 3 bad (and I do mean BAD) experience in a row, we crossed it off the list. Busch Gardens "BillsBurg" is just so much better. Plus, you have the added bonus of the Historic Triangle there as well if you have the time/inclination. Just my 2 cents... | |

| We went there in Summer of 2007. I had been there in the late 70's and wanted to see it again. My 3 dd's, the youngest who was 6 at the time, really enjoyed themselves in both the regular and water parks. If you haven't been, then I would give it a try! |
