| I've stayed at Circus Circus (CC) many times. I haven't been on any of the rides, but I've walked through the dome many times and seen them all. The midway carnival games above the casino can be lots of fun, but they can get costly in an instant. I have mixed feelings about CC. If you do stay there, I would recommend the Tower rooms because they are the nicest, but keep in mind the hotel in general is fairly old, and the rooms do show their age. Also, while the Tower rooms are closer to the theme park dome, it's a farther walk to the casino, midway, and Strip/street. The crowds can also be overwhelming depending on when you're there. At times it seems worse than being at a Disney park on a holiday, both in terms of crowds and noise. If you have any specific questions, please feel free to post them, and I'll do my best to answer them. |

| I would recommend staying somewhere else and visiting the Adventuredome....you can get other rooms at similar prices... I haven't been there (I know, I know), but I've heard it's quite fun. It's just the hotel itself (and its location - it's not unsafe, just uncomfortably run down) I'm not a fan of.

| if you want to pay circus circus prices, your best bets are excalibur (which has a huge arcade itself - not to mention close proximity to new york, new york which also has a large arcade and the roller coaster), tropicana or the sahara which is on the opposite end of the strip. the sahara which also has a roller coaster and the nascar experience is my choice for budget hotels because it has a monorail station in it (also $3 blackjack 24/7), so you're a short ride from the big places. depending on when you go, you don't really want to be walking up down the strip because of weather, but it's easy to cluster the hotels and hop from one to another. i'd probably even dare say to stay at excalibur. ![]() even just from the aesthetic point of view. mgm grand also has lions on display (though you have to go through the casino for them) and a decent shopping area (although caesar's takes the cake there). you'll also be close to the m&m store and sega (and steven spielberg) has an arcade called gameworks GameWorks | Welcome to GameWorks!

| I also would suggest Excalibur. It's also showing its age, but it's a newer property than Circus Circus. There's plenty of fun stuff to do downstairs (below the casino) for young and old alike. And Gameworks is a very quick walk away. Excalibur's location alone is worth it since you're at the 4 corners where there's something to see or do in each direction. Also, the Excalibur is connected by inside walkway to Luxor and then through to Mandalay. And should you want to visit further up the Strip, the monorail at the MGM, which is diagonal from Excalibur, is very convenient and not that expensive for a daily or multi-day pass. Pretty much what bradk said, hehe! I wouldn't recommend Sahara only because its location is sort of isolated at the northern end of the Strip. |

| I just got back from Vegas a few weeks ago and I wouldn't stay at the Sahara either. It is really run down and kind of scary at that end. The Excalibur is nice and right on the busy strip.

| Brad summed it up pretty well - I'd go with Excalibur, simply because it's still affordable but in the heart of things at its end. Depending on your plans, you might also want to consider staying just off the Strip at Orleans or Gold Coast (Orleans is newer and not as smokey). They offer shuttles to the Strip. Or there are a couple of motels in the business district just east of the Strip (La Quinta, Marriott, etc) that are only a mile or 2 away...

| We have stayed at CC for a few days and found it to be aged but comfortable with friendly staff. Our kids delighted in the adventuredome with our eldest having his first ever solo ride on the swinging pirate ship there! However last month we visited friends staying there for a week and they were less than impressed with the housekeeping and run down room fixtures. On a positive the pool staff allowed us as visitors to stay and play all day with them and the garden buffet was fantastic! If you ask DH the gambling was not as 'loose' as he expected and he had better luck at the upmarket casinos - LOL! Beware of the arcade carnival staff at the Excalibur - in Oct we went there three times and never once met a friendly or helpful team member. For the dollars we spent there I expected a fun, friendly, interactive reception from the workers but they were far from pleasant. Good luck and have a fun trip!

| I have stayed at the Excalibur and it was a good hotel, but being so far down toward the one end of the strip, it's a bit inconvenient. I always recommend staying in the center of the strip due to the amout of walking. I've stayed at the Imperial palace. great location. good price (it's an older hotel (and clean, just not extravigent), but the price and the location arw perfect. Circus Circus unimpressed us so much we walked in and right back out. FYI...It's been a 2.5 yrs since our last visit,... but that end (circus circus and sahara) was pretty deserted ( likely changed by now ) and not really safe at night to be out and about. The tour book I purchased advised against it. Also, keep an eye out for the "Adult Only" cards handed out on the street for your 9 yr olds sake, otherwise she'll get a quik sex Ed lesson That said ...vegas is out of this world!! enjoy |
