| I am not from New Mexico, but spent some time there when my dad lived in Truth or Consequences. While in Albuquerque, make sure you go to Old Town. It is beautiful and has lots of shops and galleries. You can get anything from touristy stuff to high end Native American art and jewelry. There are a couple of really good restaurants tucked away down there as well. Just south of Albuquerque is the Isleta Pueblo and Isleta Casino which are interesting to visit. New Mexico is a beautiful state, but if you are driving anywhere, keep in mind that there is an awful lot of nothin in between everything. If you feel like making the drive, the VLA (Very Large Array) telescopes are near Socorro, NM (about 1.5 hrs south of Albuquerque). If you have seen the movie "Contact" with Jodi Foster, it is the place where all those huge radio telescopes are. Hope this helps.

| Matt - I assume your FIL is stationed at Kirtland? I went to HS in ABQ, and my parents live here (I am visiting right now). Feel free to PM me with any questions... Any of you snow ski? that should be in the middle of ski season in ABQ. Are you looking for cheap? Adventure? nature? History??? Like I said - feel free to PM me for details.

| We are planning a trip to Albuquerque and Santa Fe in July. We are actually staying at a Hyatt Resort in between the two cities that has its own stable and horses for horseback riding. There seems to be alot to do in the area. I ordered the New Mexico travel guide and have been researching the area on the internet (travelchannel.com and fodors websites among others). Good luck with your planning Matt!

| Have fun hanging out at DIA for your layover, it's not a bad place to hang out for about an hour. Wish we could come an meet you all since we live just about an hour from the airport. I hope you enjoy your trip to Albuquerque as well.

| Not sure of the actual distances, but if you don't mind a bit of driving - I would suggest White Sands (with the Anazai ruins) and Roswell with the UFO museum are both a lot of fun! I think the grave of Billy the Kid is down there somewhere (we drove from Clovis, NM to Phoenix, AZ and stopped at this site somewhere along the line

| Matt - just did a bit of looking at Google maps. ABQ to Roswell - less than 4 hours ABQ to White Sands - just over 4 hours ABQ to Carlsbad - right at 5 hours We don't mind driving so we would be all over these if we were in your shoes, but I've been to all these at one time or another in my life, but I want to go back some time and show DS and DH. Good luck - hope you get to do some of what you want!!
