I just got an offer to transfer in my job to the Richmond area. I would probably work in Richmond but live in a nearby town. Can ANYONE tell me about this area? I hate to sound bad but I need things like crime info, housing costs, poverty, ect. My kids need a high school, ect. Can anyone help us?
Don't live in Richmond...but this is a great site for some statistics that I have used. City Compare
Lived in Va Beach and DC for a number of yrs. Loved this part of the country...mountains and the beach all within a drive! Good luck if you choose to move south!
My sister lives in Richmond and teaches in Henrico County. I would say any of the outlying areas, Midlothian, Chester, Chesterfield, Glen Allen, etc. are very nice areas. Living in the city itself may not give you the best schools. The crime rate is pretty terrible in the city I believe, but outlying areas are fine. There is so much to do there, historical, cultural, shopping, etc. You will be so close to DC, Williamsburg, Va Beach etc. I live in the mtns. of Va, about 3 hours away. I will send you my email address and can also give you my sister's. What type of job do you have? Just wondering because I know healthcare is big in Richmond.
