Royal Caribbean Granduer of the Seas?

1. What is Royal Caribbean like?
2. What are the extra charges onboard?
3. Has anyone sailed on this ship?
4. Deck 4 Ocean View is that a good deck to be on?

Have the opportunity to take a cruise on this ship and haven't sailed on any other Cruiseline then Disney so this is new territory for me! Thanks.

I am happy to share my own personal experiences with you!

1. What is Royal Caribbean like? I love it. My first cruise was on Monarch of the Seas- one of the oldest ships in the fleet, but even so I was impressed. Our Alaskan cruise on Serenade of the Seas blew me away and IMHO, rivaled DCL in several aspects.
2. What are the extra charges onboard? They do charge for soda and other charges you might incur are the casino (if you use it), specialty restaurants and eateries- such as Ben and Jerry's, Late-tudes, etc.
3. Has anyone sailed on this ship? I haven't but JoanW has and she has a report started in Globetrotting.
4. Deck 4 Ocean View is that a good deck to be on? Haven't been on that deck but did do an oceanview on Monarch- and while the room was considerably small and somewhat dated (given the ships age)- I was fine. The portholes are not near as big as DCL.

GOS was introduced into the fleet in late 1996 and is in the second tier if you will of Royal Caribbean's class of ships. Monarch- the one I did in December is older and in the original fleet. I wouldn't hesitate to give it a try though- I found the service on both ships to be good and the value for my money superb.

Give them a try!! Hopefully, Joan or anyone else who has sailed GOS can give you more specifics on the ship itself. Feel free to PM me if you have any other questions!
