| Football Hall of Fame/Gettysburg/Hershey PA advice We are planning a road trip for labor day and were wondering how much time to give at the above places. We are also stopping on the way back to see a high school friend of DH's north of Pittsburgh. So far our plans seem to be, Wed. drive to Canton and stay overnight. (6 hour drive) Thurs AM- Football Hall of fame. Thurs afternoon, drive to Gettysburg. (5 hour drive) Stay overnight. Friday AM Gettysburg, mid afternoon drive to Hershey for tour. Possibly stay overnight in Hershey and drive to see DH's friend near Pittsburgh Sat AM. (4 hour drive) Sat evening start driving back home (7 hours from friends home). Stay overnight somewhere in OH and then come home Sunday by early afternoon. I feel like I'm going to be doing a commando trip. Is it possible to see everything in the time allotted? Any hotels to recommend? TIA

We've only been to Canton once, but I had planned 2 days there. , we lasted one! We took most of one day and were happy. Can you do it in 1/2 day? , but you'll probably miss some of the interactive things/movies. My Dgang spent almost an hour in the gift shop alone. I wouldn't recommend our hotel, but I heard it's been updated since we were there. It was a dump with a well-known name. We did the Pro Football Hall of Fame Legendary Experience for $250/night and it was disgusting! I couldn't get our $$ back so we decided to stay the one night and it was a nightmare!Gettysburg? That's even harder than Canton. We usually do day trips and have been there many times and still want to go back because we only saw the tip of the iceberg. Now, if you're just driving through a battleground to say you've been there, sure part of the day would work. We didn't stay in Gettysburg. Our hotel was in Lancaster, PA so I can't offer any suggestions. Hershey tour? Do you mean Chocolate World or something else? Hershey is a fun little town too. I love the Hotel Hershey -- very posh and so relaxing! They have the most delicious brunch!! Pittsburgh is home to me! Have fun planning!

| I've done the Pro Football Hall of Fame and we were there for 6 hours. Of course we are BIG football fans and read everything and saw the movie. We are hoping to go back in the winter. Love the Hall of Fame. Gettysburg-There is never enough time for this place. Of course I'm a Civil War re-enactor so I have to read every monument and walk every dirt work. So I'm not a good person to say how many hours this takes. I've never been to Hershey PA, so can't comment on that. Have a great trip. You will be busy.

| You will be in my neck of the woods since I live in Canton and about 15 minutes away from the Football Hall of Fame. You just missed all the enshrinement stuff but they did open a new exhibit. Let me know if you have any questions for that part of your trip!!

| I haven't been to Canton, but we actually did a quick tour of Gettysburg in 1/2 a day. It depends on what you want to do in Hershey. If you are simply going for the factory tour, that will take 15 minutes. There are other things to do in that building as well. However, if you want to visit the park, I'd spend a full day there. It is a lot of fun with a lot of fantastic coasters. Good luck!

| OK, I've spent a week in Gettysburg and didn't see it all. Been back several more times and still didn't see it all. But I am a history buff! (Well, I have seen every inch of the battlefield and I'm sure every single monument, but have not done all the other touristy stuff in town) We always stay at the Quality Inn that used to be right by the National Park headquarters. They have now moved the museum to a new location but this hotel is still centrally located. They have a great breakfast cottage, mine themed bar, and an indoor and outdoor pool. You can walk to a lot of great restaurants and shops from there. The new museum is beautiful and fantastic! And there is so much in it to see and do you could spend hours! And if the cyclorama is now open, you have to see that! But if you want to see the actual battlefield I would take a guided tour from a park ranger if you can. If you are interested in seeing the monuments from a certain state, you can find out where they are and just see those. You can get a CD to play in your car that will take you on a tour of the whole battlefield. It was a 3 day battle so there is a lot to see and hear about. Go to the visitors center and take a drive around the battle field, and you will certainly get a good idea of the scope of this wonderful place!

| I've only done the Gettysburg part but 1/2 day is nowhere near enough time. We stayed at the Holiday Inn right on the battlefield. The new Visitor's Center is unbelievable

| I've driven by the football hall of fame but never stopped. I've been to Gettysburg but was only there for a day so I didn't see much. My DD and her boyfriend just got back from 3 days in Gettysburg and they still felt that they missed stuff. They're history buffs, though. They also went to Hersey and did the chocolate tour and went to the gift shop. My impression was that they liked Gettysburg better. Liz |
