Colorado Springs and elevation?

I really want to go to Colorado springs next June. I also might be pregant, and have heard about the elevation and pregnancy. Has anyone had experience with this?

I have experienced the elevation but not while pregnant. We flew into Colorado Springs, and I didn't really feel a difference in elevation. When I did notice it was when we climbed up the stairs at Seven Falls. OH MY GOSH! I thought my heart would pop out of my chest. I couldn't catch my breath and became extremely lightheaded. The next time I really felt the altitude was when we drove up Pikes Peak. I got dizzy up there and was dizzy the whole time until we started driving back down. One of the people we were with got sick and had to stop his van and throw up. Lovely. And, another lady bought a can of oxygen at the top and had to use at as we drove down.

Other than those two times, none of us had any ill effects from the altitude. Does this help any?

I would suggest you check with your doctor on YOUR condition and get his recommendations on the heigth.

Colorado Springs, CO is 6152 feet above sea level.

Denver is slightly higher at 6172 (20 feet difference).

Denver is know as the Mile High City.

Follow-up on the first two replies.

Meggera said that she did not feel any difference in the altitude of Colorado Springs which is very normal.

Meggera also noted her condition, as she stated, at Pikes Peak, which is true too.

However, I do not want Teresa to be mislead without first noting that Pikes Peak is over 14,000 feet which is well over twice the difference in heigth of Colorado Springs at 6152 feet.

Off hand under normal circumstances I would guess that everything would be fine for Colorado Springs.
