| A lot depends on ages of your group but we went last March and enjoyed (with 3 generations of relatives) : -shopping at Barefoot Landing -Alligator Adventure and Ripley's Aquarium -Happy Hour at El Buro Loco -lots of beach time -shopping at a big outdoor outlet mall - can't remember the name, but it had a Disney outlet so if you google that, it will bring you to the mall. (Ripley's Aquarium was attached to it, so you'll find it that way, too) -There are lots of restaurants to avoid - most Calabash buffets are overpriced and bad food for the "tourists" We had a fun meal and great burger at The River City Cafe and just asked at our condo where the locals eat - also look for the early bird or happy hour deals. There may not be as many on during high season, but our March Break is still early for MB so there were lots then. I'll be watching this thread for other ideas, as we plan to return this March.

| We go every year, have friends who loan us a beach house. Some of our favorites: Broadway at the Beach - which has Ripley's Aquarium, an IMax, Hard Rock Cafe, Margaritaville and lots of other shops and restaurants Barefoot Landing - Alligator Adventure park and lots of restaurants and shops Brookgreen Gardens - beautiful sculptures, gardens, farm/animal area, swamp tours, evening entertainment, very cheap, 12.00 gets you admission for 3 days We play lots of Putt Putt Haven't been able to get DS to a waterpark but there are several good ones We did a river tour this year, Wacamaw river, left from Wacwachee pier or something like that, out near Murrell's Inlet, it was fun and relaxing, saw wildlife, rice plantations and learned a lot of the history of the area We rode down to Charleston SC once to go to Fort Sumter - 2 hour drive, but we are history buffs There is so much to do! Get a Stay and Play guide before you go and there are lots of coupon books and other guide books to pick up when you get there. We stay on the south end, near the state park, so if you are in the North some of the things above will be kind of far away from you. Hope you have a great time!

| We went a couple of years ago and have a lot of the same favorites that have already been mentioned. Broadway at the Beach, lots of great shops, attractions and restaurants Barefoot Landing, more shops, attractions and restaurants State Park - our resort offered the use of an annual pass so we didn't have to pay the admission fee. The visitor center offers activities every day, many of them for the kids. There is a trail through the woods, although we weren't that impressed, it was just too hot! We went later in the evening and there were no crowds, hardly anybody at all on the beach. You could look in both directions, though, and see crowds of people in front of all the beach resorts. Lots of golf courses, outlet malls, mini golf, gocarts, water park, and those wonderful tacky souvenir shops with shells and cheap T-shirts. There are other attractions that we just didn't have time for, like an amusement park and a childrens museum. There are plenty of options!

| I thought I'd add just one more thing to everyone else's great suggestions... This may not be for everyone (!) but we went to the impersonators show Legends in Concert and loved it!! I thought it was going to be cheesy and I was actually being a party-pooper about the whole thing, but once the show started I was hooked! If you do decide to do this, don't let the outside of the theater make you question your decision to go! It been several years since I've been, but I seem to remember the outside looking a little drab. Of course, like I said, I was being a big butthead about it, so maybe I was looking for things to justify my attitude. Anyway, it was lots of fun and Elvis was fantastic!!!

| Go to Barefoot Landing, Broadway at the Beach, there are 2 outlet malls - one coming in from Conway and the other is up past Barefoot. I prefer the one up beyond Barefoot. Both have great shops. The best waterpark in my opinion is Wild Water and Wheels in Surfside, there is a great flea market beside it - Hudson's. I agree with another poster, don't go to a seafood buffet - they are way overpriced. Rossi's in North Myrtle Beach has wonderful Italian food and the atmosphere is great, they have a piano bar beside them. Go to River City Cafe for a great hamburger or Hamburger Joes. Priced good. If you haven't ever done a dinner and a movie - there are 2 really good ones - Dolly's and the renaissance type one - can't seem to remember either name. Food is good and the show is really funny. There is the new "park" that was "Hard Rock Park" and they have sold it and changed name to Freestyle Park. I heard that it was pretty good. There is a new development - Market Place or Market Commons- they have shops, resaraunts, etc. We caught an opening day movie at 1 pm for $13 for 3 people. At home, we pay that each! Really nice theater. This used to be the Air Force Base in MB and they have really upscaled the area. If you like airplanes, they have a couple old ones on display, you just pull over and check them out. Big lake/pond with walking around it. This would be a cool place to visit one evening, have supper, and shop. I am in SC. If you have any more questions, please email me! |

| Wow Kellymel! You gave us some great advice - I was wondering which water park was best and you answered that question and a lot more besides! We'll likely be going down during Can-Am in March and it'll be great to have some new tricks to suggest to the group. Thanks!

| No problem. We are about 3 hours from MB and go down very frequently. If you think of anything else, please email me. Glad to help in any way I can. I was trying to think of any thing else that you might want to try: Medieval Times - Dinner theater features jousting, horses, knights, etc. Food is good show is good, I think everyone should see it at least once. My dd about 8 then loved it. Dixie Stampede - Dolly's show - North vs South, pig races, really good food, horses, really beautiful dresses. Kinda of campy, but again very good. Ripley's Aquariam is very good. Several hands on displays. this is at Broadway at the Beach. Lots of shopping, a Disney store is there, it can get very crowded in the summer. Several different places to eat...Tony Roma's, Liberty Tavern, if you have mostly adults - there is an area with piano bars, and several other type to choose from. They will have fireworks in the summer as well. Barefoot Landing - several shops, one of the only winery's Carolina Vineyards is there. A good friend of mine owns it. They grow their own grapes, and make the wine. They have a white tiger exhibit there. Also many good places to eat. They have what we call Restaraunt Row...so many different types to choose from. The normal chains - Outback, Chilli's TGI Friday's, etc. This can be the most money that you will spend. We are normally in a condo, and I cook. We have a few that we enjoy going to - Rossi's (pricey, nice nice rest, one of our nice dinners out) Carolina Roadhouse is very good, the waitstaff is great. Priced similar to an Outback. Again, River City Cafe and Hamburger Joes or Fuddruckers are all very good and priced similar. The Mellow Mushroom has good pizza as does California Pizza. We don't do seafood down there, just too pricey for what you are getting. The Outlet malls are Tanger. There is a Coastal Grand mall that is really good. Nice stores and rest along the outside. There are so many putt-putt courses. I don't like it, but my dd and dh love it. They like the one with the Dinosaurs and the one with the Aztec or Mexican theme to it. Can't think of anything else right now........ |

| We have always liked playing miniature golf in Myrtle Beach. They have some of the best courses there. We also went to see their minor league baseball team play. They are called the Pelicans and it was a good time.
