| Never been to the Olympics but have been to Whistler, BC (where they are having the skiing/bobsled events) many times Whistler Blackcomb - Winter 2010 Olympics - Whistler, BC. Whistler is about 3 hours drive from the city. The village is awesome with many great restaurants and shops. Unfortunately, we've never stayed in Vancouver but it's a very pretty city.

| Same thing. I've been to Whistler back in 2003 and flew in and out of Vancouver. It's a decent drive from Vancouver to Whister up Rt. 99. It was only one lane each direction when I was there but it was being expanded to two lanes each way. There should be plenty of sports in Vancouver (figure skating, ice hockey, curling, opening and closing ceremonies) to keep you occupied. All of the outdoor events (skiing, bobsleding, etc.) is being held in Whistler. Whistler is beautiful but for the Olympics darn expensive and there isn't a lot between Whistler and Vancouver in terms of accomdations. |

| We were going to go, but I guess we are going to skip it. Although, I know when I'm watching it, I'm going to wish I was there! :/ I've been to Vancouver and Whistler before about 10 years ago, we went for the NHL All Star Game. It was awesome and BEAUTIFUL. Would love to go again soon. Hope you have a great time!!!!

| Sorry, I have never been to Vancouver so I can't offer any suggestions. I am curious, did you book this trip on your own or with a travel agency. I would love to go to the olympics sometime.

| won't be in Vancouver until Fall of 2010... never been to the olympics... but definitely hit up the figure skating events if at all possible! Especially the MEN'S event as that is going to be a HUGE battle.

| Thanks, Everyone. We will be headed to Whistler as well. We booked a package and some Whistler events were included. Transportation is part of the package as well. We booked through Co-Sport which is the official ticket agency of the Olympics for anyone who is NOT a Canadian resident. The package was nice because it included event tickets, accomodations, some meals and transportation to everything (to and from the Airport, Whistler, etc.)

| Ok, for dining in whistler (though it's been a while for us) I'd recommend the following. Sushi Ya (if it's still there) CRÊPE MONTAGNE - yummy breakfast - small place and must do. LA BRASSERIE DES ARTISTES - lunch/dinner BLACK'S - lunch/dinner DUBH LINN GATE Also liked the Garibaldi Lift Co. above the Whistler gondola. Drank the martini menu one trip- good apre ski food. Splitz's Grill - make your own burgers Mongolie Grill - make your own stir fry Cows - ice cream For more expensive restaurants: Hy's Steakhouse Quattros (also in vancouver) very good italian (pricey) They make these yummy raddichio covered/mozzarella/balsamic appetizer that i LOVE. Val d'Isere Have fun!!

You have listed some awesome places to eat and drink in Whistler. Another high end one that is fabulous is the Bearfoot Bistro. Even just for a drink and dessert...it's lovely. My favorite for Italian is Il Caminetto - it's been there since the early eighties. | |

| My DH and I love Vancouver, and have been there a couple of times in the past two years. We love to go in the Winter/early spring to drink our favorite Winter Ale. (Granville Island Winter Ale). Love it! We are actually heading back to Vancouver in late March early April - hopefully to catch an NHL game if our Canucks are still in the running that late into the season. The city is beautiful and well laid out. I'm looking forward to seeing all the changes the city made - the last time we were there Granville street was shut down for repairs and they were still a ways behind on the "Olympic Athletes Village" Have a great time at the Olympics, I will be cheering and wearing my bright red mittens (if I can ever get a pair ordered)! |
