| travel advice sites I've used tripadvisor.com several times for reviews of hotels and attractions when planning a trip. I'm now looking for information for a future vacation and find that the reviews on tripadvisor are either really old or nonexistant. Is there a similar site I don't know about yet? Real travelers, actual advice?

| I only ever use TripAdvisor. Usually, I find their reviews very up to date. If there's something similar, I'd be interested in hearing about it too. ![]()

| I often start by trying to find a local blog - folks who do those will often be up on the new restaurants, attractions, etc. There are some fabulous ones for major cities like Las Vegas. Yahoo is similar to Tripadvisor but for some reason the star ratings tend to skew higher. Don't know why! I personally write on Epinions in Travel but our search engine is somewhat broken at the moment so I always recommend folks use google with "Epinions" in the search string. There are not as many reviews as Tripadvisor but they tend to be more detailed. I also like Yelp a lot, they tend to have good restaurant reviews that can't be found elsewhere. If you are going to Europe, Dooyoo (a U.K. based site) has some high quality reviews for those destinations.
