Help me with New Orleans please!!!

My bff has convinced me to go to Mardi Gras in February with her for her sisters birthday. I know, all you from New Orleans are thinking why???? I went a few years ago and I had a blast, and I will admit, I did kind of strongly advocate for this trip, until I found out we were going to drive down. I know, where on earth are we going to park? Not only that, unless we stay right in the heart of everything, how will we get there. I am the only one that has been before and I just know that this trip is going to be disasterous. So many unanswered questions. I just tried to change it to Las Vegas, but my bff's sister won't fly. So, we went online and I found a couple of maybe's but some questions....How is the Creole Inn? That seems to be the least expensive option right now. I did find a Travelodge over the river that says it's 4 miles from Harrahs, but is there any way to New Orleans from the other side of the river? Please help. I was excited about this, but now, not so much.

Hi and welcome to the boards!

I haven't personally visited New Orleans, but I know a lot of PassPorters have and we have some who live there, so there'll be someone along soon, I'm sure, with lots of advice and ideas for you.

Sadly I can't recommend places to stay as we have family to stay with in MS and NOLA. Last year my in-laws went with DS and they said there was plenty of parking at least for the parades they went to, although one of the parades they had to park where the floats started from since DFil ad DS rode with a friend who drove his truck that a float was on, and he gave them a lift back to their car. I was told there was a little bit of a hike for parking for some parades but not all. Sorry if I'm not much help, but Im suresome other PPers on the boards who live in NOLA will be more helpful! I'm begging DH for us to go to Mardi Gras one of these years.
