If there are any people that come and visit here there is a back road that we found out about a couple of months ago. Amazingly alot of people dont know about it although Im sure there are some of you that do.
If you want to avoid the traffic through town and you are coming from 40 and you want to go to Dollywood. When you get to Walmart take a left onto Collier Rd at the light. Follow that down until you get to Veterans Blvd( you pass the Wyndam Timeshare resort). Take a right onto Veterans Blvd and that will take you right to Dollywood which will be on the left hand side.
I know that people do know this route but alot of people dont because its not a busy road.
Wow - that is very useful... Wish we would have known about that a couple of months ago. That main road filled w/traffic was probably the worst part of the trip and the reason we didn't opt to get the annual passes.
We are going to Gatlinburg in a couple of weeks. Is that route good for traveling from Knoxville through Pigeon Forge and on into Gatlinburg? How much time does that cut off?
Fran, it would just depend on how heavy the traffic is. If traffic is moving, it's just as easy to stay on 441. I'm pretty sure it's a good bit longer but an alternate for those times when the traffic on 441 is at a standstill.
Its not that much out of the way. Let me just say that Pigeon FOrge was really busy this weekend. I heard from several people working there that alot of people came there instead of going to the beach this summer because of whats going onin the Gulf. I was surprised at all the traffic there was. If you take that road you come out near light #2 I think and then just go into the parkway to get to Gatlinburg. To me its still worth it because you go through maybe 3 lights on that road versus all those lights on the main road.
