Yes! There really is an Inventor's Hall of Fame. It seems to be open, and this is there phone number (330) 762-6565. Wikipedia reports that it's under some kind of construction, so I would say call and ask what's up.
Before I moved to Florida, I lived 20 minutes from there and went to University of Akron, which is right next door to the HoF. If you make the trip, make time for the art museum, which isn't huge, but underwent a giant addition/renovation. It's just down the street and very nice.
Maybe I should rephrase -- Has anyone been recently?
The site says it's 2000 square feet, adjacent to a school, and open M-F 10-4, closed weekends. DH is thinking it sounds like display cases in a school hallway and not much more. It looks like they may have moved the main museum to VA?
