My family and I are taking a much needed vacation on a Norwegian cruise to the Western Caribbean. DH and I have agreed on what to do in Cozumel, Santo Tomas de Castilla and Key West, but we're having trouble coming to agreement on what to do in Belize City.
He wants to take a hike/cave tubing excursion, which sounds nice, but means lugging a full-sized inner-tube on a 45 minute hike through the rain forest. The 45 minute hike wouldn't be bad, but I don't want to carry the inner-tube for that long. I don't feel I'll enjoy the scenery.
I want to go shopping and buy something representative of where we've been, something locally produced. It sounds like there's a "Tourist Village" not far from the port, which sounds great for my desires, but we're in port for over 9 hours and I don't think I'll need that much time.
Has anyone ever been in this port? What did you do there? It's been a long time since we've taken a vacation and I want to make the most of it I can. Keep in mind, please, that we have a DS11 & DD10.
Are the kids going on the excursion, too? I bet they'd get real tired of carrying taht tube and want the parents to do it!
Do you all have to go on the same excursion? Why can't he go on the cave tubing one and you go shopping? Let him take the kids if they are not staying in the kids club and want to go.
