I'll be taking Amtrak from Providence to NJ in May. This is my first time ever taking an Amtrak and I'm looking for any tips or advice.
I did buy the "cheap seats". Should I upgrade? I think someone suggested that I go for the quiet car or something.
It will just be me and I am planning on buying a Kindle in the next couple of days so I'll have that to take with me. I don't think I'll be able to convince hubby to let me take his laptop though and it's not really a big deal. I think I can survive the trip without internet.
So tell me everything I need to know? Has anyone gone out of Providence before?
For that short a trip I wouldn't pay for the upgrade. The quiet car is nice, though, and doesn't cost extra. The car is restricted to NO talking and is very peaceful for reading.
i took amtrack from ny to boston many years before the kindle i loved the ride and remember sleeping and watching the sights all the way there it was nice with no complaints then . and i also grab a tuna sandwich along the way no bad only could imagine the food now ?
Don't pay for the upgrade; it's definitely not worth it. The quiet car is a regular car with no noise - that includes cell phones . If tou're traveling in the morning, get a seat on the west side of the train, so the sun won't be in your eyes. Snacks on biard are quite pricey, so bring something to munch on / drink
