Hi there. My DH and I are thinking of taking our son to New Orleans for a long weekend. We don't want to spend a fortune because we are planning for WDW in Dec also. I would love to get some suggestions for a good hotel (kid friendly obviously) that won't break the bank. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated!
I guess it depends on what you mean by "break the bank." We stayed at the Marriott downtown and loved it. I could walk with my three kids to just about everything. And it wasn't super-fancy soI felt fine with my kids running around. But my absolute favorite NOLA hotel is Le Pavilion. If you are looking for a "New Orleans" feel, this is your hotel. Anything in the French Quarter (Canal St, St. Charles, etc) will have you in walking distance of most attractions.
I don't know if it is still open, but try to go to the Bug Museum (maybe called Insectorium or something like that). It is run by Audubon Zoo (another must-do with kids) and my boys adored it. I think it was on Canal St. But it may have been a temporary thing.
(I know you requested hotels, but to be honest I can't even remember the name of ours from our last trip......but I did want to say that the New Orleans Aquarium - which is right on the water - is AWESOME. It's my second favorite in the US to the TN Aquarium.)
