Going on a Royal Caribbean Cruise and possible quick WDW trip
So I'm going on my first cruise in March 2014. It's on Royal Caribbean and it's leaving from Port Canaveral for 7 nights. Being so close to WDW it's almost impossible for me to be down there and NOT go to WDW. I will have a lot of vacation time saved by then and I'm trying to decide if it's feasable to do a quick trip at WDW. I need eveyone's advice! If i decide to go to WDW should I go before the cruise for a few days and of course stay at a resort so I could use DME to get from the airport and then back so I can do a transfer from Orlando to Port Canaveral or should I do the WDW trip after the cruise? I'm leaning towards doing it the weekend before....maybe going on a thursday since my cruise leaves on a sunday and gets back on a sunday. I think that would logistically be the easiest getting to WDW and back to Orlando and then to Port Canaveral. Also what would be a good resort to stay at for a short stay and best location so I can get to all the parks easily and quickly and be able to park hop a lot? I've stayed at CBR and OKW before but I don't want to spend a lot of $$ on deluxe for a short stay. I loved CBR last summer! Sorry this post is all over the place....there's just so much to think about haha! I would appreciate any advice!
In my opinion, the deluxe (and I have NOT stayed there) and convenient for park hopping between Epcot and MK because of the monorail.
The rest are pretty much the same. You can try to reduce the time park hopping by leaving Park#1 to a resort near the next park you want to visit and then get on a bus from there. The bigger resorts Pop Century, Port Orleans, All stars may have more buses just because they have more rooms to transport people from.
Sorry, I didn't see your post until now. It sounds like the weekend before your cruise would be the best time for a quick WDW stay. It's definitely feasible, IMO. The WDW portion of your trip will probably be pretty active and hectic (in a good way). So going there before the cruise means you'll have the cruise afterwards and can go home relaxed
As far as resorts are concerned: I wouldn't worry too much about location if you're considering a moderate or value resort. Pick the resort that appeals to you and fits your budget. Maybe check out AoA? Or go back to CBR since you loved it so much?
Thanks!! I was thinking AoA or CBR. AoA looks wonderful! I like the idea of beforehand as well. All my trips to WDW feel hectic in a way since we park hop and usually go from open to close everyday so i'm not expecting to relax very much.
