Marriott Marquis, New York Planning a 3 day trip to NY with a girlfriend. No hubby, no kid. Pampering just for me! I've never been to NY before. But from what I've researched on my own, I noticed that the Marriott Marquis seems central to almost everything! I know there are a few NY natives on these boards. Please help!! Any review, positive or negative of this hotel would be so helpful!!

Re: Marriott Marquis, New York My folks have stayed at whatever Marriott is closest to Times Square twice. I don't know if this is the same as you are asking about. They really liked it as they could walk to so much of what they wanted to see and the service and rooms were just what they would expect from a Marriott. -HiddenMickey

Re: Marriott Marquis, New York I stayed at the Marquis that was closest to Times Square as well--fantastic place! There is a Disney Store in Times Square too--very close to the Marquis, plus we were right by the MTV studios, and the ABC studios too. You will love it. Go to Lindy's Deli--really neat place. You can also get day-of tickets for Broadway shows at a ticket booth in TS--very cheap. We saw the Scarlet Pimpernel for $20 each--center row, orchestra, middle of audience. Also, if you have time and desire, I HIGHLY recommend going for a horseback ride in Central Park. Claremont Stable (212-724-5100) leases horses for about $30/hour. It was the best time I've ever had (apart from Disney! )

Re: Marriott Marquis, New York I stayed in the Marriot in the Times Square area this past November. I had an enjoyable time. As others have said, it is easy walking distance to the Disney store, FAO Schwartz, Rockefellar Center, etc. I was also impressed at the security. At night, you couldn't get through the lobby without showing your room ID/Key. If you are looking to save a little money, there are several "little deli's" all around the hotel. Instead of getting breakfast at the hotel, I would just walk to one of the many delis and order a toasted bagel with cream cheese for a couple of dollars. One night, when we were pretty tired, we ate the buffet dinner that one of the restaurants in the hotel was offering. It was very resonably priced (for NYC standards!) and actually very tasty. Have a great trip. KathyL

Re: Marriott Marquis, New York Thanks for the replys. I think we'll go for it! Anyone know how to get tickets to be in the audience for any shows? Never done anything like that and thought it would be fun.

Re: Marriott Marquis, New York We originally planned to venture to NYC for my birthday and then decided a WDW was the way to go; but in the NYC research I found that Letterman tickets sort of harder to get, Crossing Over with John Edward is done soley by lottery. You might just think about which shows interest you, then head on over to the show website and usually ticket info is right on the home page. We had decided on the Marriott Marquis- this trip is still on the horizon, please come back and let us know how it is!
