San Francisco Sushi Bar?

I just found out I will have to be in SF Thursday thru Sunday THIS week! Anyone know of a good sushi bar there? I figure if I'm going to be near a good seaport, I HAVE to take advantage! I live pretty far inland now and don't have access to indulge in this culinary delight the way I'd like to ... too bad I'm going alone, I know my Honey would love to get some with me.

Sure appreciate the help, if anyone knows of one!
Have to do company dinners on Friday and Saturday but Thursday night is Mine ALL Mine!

Re: San Francisco Sushi Bar?

We are planning a trip out to the Bay area some time in the future. My brother lives there out which helps. He and his fiance had given us the following suggestions.

"We Be Sushi" in the mission. It is our favorite. It's on Valencia between 17th
and 18th. Best cheapest sushi. They just remodeled the inside, so it looks
really nice and expensive, but it is still reasonable prices. (There are
several We Be's - there is another further up Valencia and then one on Geary, I would recomend the one above.

There is also "Country Station Sushi" - I am not
sure if they are still there, but it is a pretty wacky environment. and then there is "No Name Sushi" on Church, just south of Market - unfortnately you can't look it up in the phone book because we literally don't know the name - friends just referred to it as "No Name" because there has never been a sign (though they have not been in several years, it may have a name now.) No Name is very close to the Castro, virtually walking distance, if they would be interested in that part of town.

You really should go see a movie at the Castro Theater - old time theater, just renovated it is
absolutely gorgeous, what going to the movies should always be - an organist who floats up from
below the stage and plays in between evening movies and really beautiful authentic original decorations.

Please PM or email me if you would like.

Re: San Francisco Sushi Bar?

How fun!!! You might also check out Japantown, there are several places that have authentic sushi.

Wow, Elaine! Another Castro theater person!!! It's a great place to go, went there on my birthday this year and really enjoyed it. If you want to see another even more fantastic old restored theater, check out the Paramount Theater in Oakland. About once a month they show vintage movies, and the organist plays, and there is a cartoon, a newsreel, and a game of Dec-O-Win (keep track of your ticket stub, you might win!!!)

Re: San Francisco Sushi Bar?

Hee hee Paul LOVES that theatre I & B! - He and his fiance live in Oakland. He had hoped to be moving to LA area after they get married this summer but, alas, after three rounds of interviews with AFI he wasn't accepted. - He plans on applying again next year though!

Presti, let me know if you are looking for other things to do and your interests. Happy to share more with you if you'd like.
