Hotels by Sea World Orlando

A crazy idea just popped into my head and that is to make a quick trip to Orlando in a couple of weeks to take my daughter to Discovery Cove for her 10th birthday. Her grandmother is coming to visit us in Houston from Arizona and she and my daughter are huge dolphin fanatics. I thought about surprising them both with a trip for the three of us as a b-day present to my daughter.

Anyways, does anyone know of any good hotels close by Sea World/Discovery Cove that could be recommended? I would prefer not to rent a car, but just take shuttles or cabs.

Also, any tips on these two parks would be greatly appreciated. I have been to all the Sea Worlds except the Orlando one. I know Sea World admission is included in the Discovery Cove price. Does anyone know if we can do Sea World before Discovery Cove, or does the 7 day admission start after your visit to DC? Sorry for the rambling....so much to think about on short notice. Thanks for any help!

Re: Hotels by Sea World Orlando

What a nice idea! We always like the Renaissance Sea Wolrd- it is directly across the street. The next closest one is the Sheraton World and Towers. You might also look into the Ramada Suites, Homewood Suites or Studio Plus. We lived on Westwood Blvd, right off I Drive, practically next door to Sea World for 2 years- and those are the properties that are coming to mind. Hope it helps!

I am sure someone will be along to answer the other questions about Discovery Cove - enjoy!!

Re: Hotels by Sea World Orlando

Hi! I just returned from such a trip this week, it was great! IT was for my DD's 6th birthday, as you must be 6 to swim with the dolphins. You can see my full trip report under the Cruise heading, Disc. cove/ gf /wonder-ful trip.
We stayed at the Rennaissance and walked to Sea World, they have a shuttle to the Discovery Cove. We had a rental car, but you wouldn't necessarily need one. There was no other walkable hotel that we saw.
You can see Sea World before your DC Day, just go to Guest Services/Concierge counter at Sea World with the confirmation letter or numbers from DC and they will give you the pass.
Hope this helps!!

Oh - Definitely call DC Ahead as they limit admissions to 1000/day to make sure they are available for your dates!!
