Hilton Head Disney Resort Does anyone know the likelihood/past trends of Disney offering their annual pass discount at Disney's Hilton Head Resort? They have one going until May 5, but we are going there in early June, and it would be so exciting to stay at that resort rather than another hotel in Hilton Head. Without the AP discount, though, the price is ridiculously high for renters.

Re: Hilton Head Disney Resort I've not paid great attention to what the DVC does at Hilton Head, but I believe it will be hard to come by a discount in June-August. Hilton Head is an EXTEREMLY busy place in the summer and can book at high prices all over the island. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you! -HiddenMickey

Re: Hilton Head Disney Resort [ QUOTE ] Just to let you know, the Disney HHI resort is nowhere near the ocean. If I were traveling to HHI, I would choose another resort. [/ QUOTE ] We vacationed on HHI three years ago and were unable to book at the Disney HHI Resort. I'm so glad that we weren't able to. I went online to www.expedia.com and looked for other options as we definitely wanted to vacation on HHI. We ended up staying at the Westin Resort Westin Hilton Head Island and had a wonderful time. The Westin is located right on the beach and from the balcony of our room we could see the ocean and feel the cooling ocean breezes. If you have kids at all, the Westin offers alot of programs for children. They also have bikes and other recreational equipment for rent right there, so we spent one morning biking on the beach and the surrounding pathways. I would definitely recommend this as a great alternative to Disney.

[/ QUOTE ] We plan to go there next year, and believe the proximity to the ocean is similar to where we stay at Chincoteague. Here, we bike several miles from Chincoteague to Assateague to go to the beach (we occasionally drive). I understand at Disney HHR there is a beach house with a club room and refreshments, and trails from the resort to the beach house (so you can bike). Unlike Chincoteague, there are other resorts which are closer to the beach. For those of you who have stayed at Disney HH, am I on track with this information? |

Re: Hilton Head Disney Resort Yes, your information is correct. We have not stayed there as we own a timeshare elsewhere on the island, but have been by the DVC resort before. Biking on HHI is great! -HiddenMickey

Re: Hilton Head Disney Resort Ken, the Disney HHI resort is across the road from the beach side of the island. You would have to cross a 6-lane highway to get to the beach. We drove to the resort just to get a look, and it is quite away from the nearest beach access. I would not feel at all comfortable riding bikes across that very busy highway.

Re: Hilton Head Disney Resort I believe that there is a path somewhere that goes under the road near Shelter Cove (close to the DVC resort). We've biked to the Shelter Cove Mall from the our resort near Coligny Plaza, before with the kids in tow, and I'm pretty sure we didn't cross the road to get to the Mall. -HiddenMickey
