YES! We have gone every year for the past 6 years and going again this Jan!!! It is a GREAT place to ski and vacation. We usually stay in the Whistler Village as this is where the majority of the restaurants/night life is. From your hotel, you will need to take a bus or walk to get to the village.
Here is a link to a trip report I posted from our last trip in Jan 2004.
My Whistler trip report
Tips for skiing:
Our favorite thing to do is go for "Fresh Tracks" on Whistler Mt. in the morning (especially if it snowed overnight). They let you on the gondola 1 hour to 1-1/2 hours before they open the mountain. You have breakfast and are one of the first to head down freshly groomed/fresh powdered runs. It costs $19 ca for a breakfast buffet and you can upgrade to a full sitdown breakfast at Steeps for $33 ca.
If it's a clear day, head up to Harmony Ridge on Whistler for great views. The pictures in my trip report are from this run.
We also take FRS radios to keep in touch with our party. They work pretty good on the Mt. You need to get radios that have privacy channels as alot of people use these.
You will be there at the busiest time. My friend went last year before Christmas and they had to wait 15-20 minutes in lift lines. We usually go in late Jan. and never have to wait more than 5 minutes, if that.
For Apres we like to head to Garibaldi Lift Co, Black's Pub, Longhouse Saloon or La Brassiere. We've had a great lunch on the mountain at the Chic Pea.
For nightlife (when we aren't too tired from skiing all day), we have only been to Dub Lihn Gate and the Savage Beagle. We want to try Garfinkles and Maxx Fish.
Our favorite restaurant by far is Quattro's. We usually eat there twice. Make your dinner reservations before you leave if you can, especially for the weekends.
We usually rent a limo instead of taking a bus as it offers us more flexability, it's quicker, roomier, we usually bring a movie to watch and we can eat and drink. We rent from
Star Limousine
This year we are staying an extra day so we hope to try something different, either snowshoeing, ice skating, or
Zip Trek tours
