Has anyone stayed at another vacation place first, then gone and stayed at WDW Hi, I was wondering if anyone had done two different destinations, one being WDW and another something else on the same trip. I was figuring that since I was going to be in the Florida area so much at the end of December and first couple weeks in January, that I might split my time between WDW and maybe some place like Cancun. I would obviously do Cancun first and then fly back to Orlando and stay 4 or 5 nights at WDW. Don't get me wrong, I had a great time in Febuary and will be going again for 5 nights in January 2006. I am just looking at all my options to see what I could do. Also, splitting my stay between the two, will cost just about the same as it would if I stayed the whole time at either one of these, so the cost really isn't a factor. I know I can get from Chicago to Orlando pretty cheap and from Fort Lauderdale to Cancun pretty cheap. However, I haven't figured away to get from Orlando to Fort Lauderdale to catch my Cancun flight or how to get back to Orlando from Fort Lauderdale so I can do WDW on the back end. The trouble is trying to get all the times to match up right.

Re: Has anyone stayed at another vacation place first, then gone and stayed at WDW Yes, we did this in December. We went to Philadelphia first for three nights, then headed to Disney and spent our final two nights at Vero Beach. We're planning on doing something similar in late November / early December this year. We'll be flying into Boston for four nights, then down to Disney for eight nights and finishing up in Washington DC for two nights. ![]()

Re: Has anyone stayed at another vacation place first, then gone and stayed at WDW Not as exotic as what you have planned, but we always split our trips between WDW and Universal, staying 2-3 nights in a Universal hotel.

Re: Has anyone stayed at another vacation place first, then gone and stayed at WDW We did one trip where we spent 4 nights at WDW then drove down to Miami and took a cruise (Norwegian Cruiselines) to Grand Cayman, Cozumel, Belize & Roatan. It was one of the best vacations ever.

Re: Has anyone stayed at another vacation place first, then gone and stayed at WDW We once stayed 4 days at WDW and then went to a resort on the Gulf in Florida for 3 days. Nick was only 2 and we weren't sure how he would do at WDW. Once we realized WDW was fun even with small children we never split our vacation again.

Re: Has anyone stayed at another vacation place first, then gone and stayed at WDW We always do a quick overnight a Jekyll Island Georgia because my in-laws own a house there. It's only about 3.5 hours from WDW and it takes us about 5 to get there from Atlanta. So we can leave in the late afternoon after school, get to Jekyll at a resonable hour, and leave out again really early the next morning and arrive at our park by rope drop. In January it's not going to be warm like the Bahamas, so if you're looking to escape the cold go there. It sounds great.

Re: Has anyone stayed at another vacation place first, then gone and stayed at WDW If I understand your dilemma, you are trying to find a way between Orlando and Ft. Lauderdale, right? I'm assuming you are in Orlando for other reasons other than WDW or would not need to have that as your drop-off point (according to your post). The only way that you can get from Orlando to Ft Lauderdale, on your own terms, might be to rent a car one-way. Sometimes these are a bit more expensive, but sometimes not. You might be able to find a deal. The other alternatives would be bus, train, or plane. And these would not be convenient because of scheduling, etc. Hope this helps. Now, if you were flying from Chicago to Cancun and then Cancun to Orlando, you woulnd't have a problem!
