My mom and I will be attending a conference at Harvard in a month . Since she just told me about it last night, I am in planning overdrive mode. We will be staying in Cambridge at Harvard Square Hotel and we will take a taxi from the airport. We won't have lots of downtime, mostly just evenings Saturday-Tuesday. While we won't get to see even a small fraction of all Boston has to offer, I am hoping that a local Passporter could point us to their favorite spots.

If you get a chance there is a great restaurant in Cambridge, called Fire & Ice. It's very reasonable and a fun atmospehere. Here's the website www.fire-ice.com
The Museuem of Science isn't too far and is also great.
You should definitely also hit the North End for some great Italian.
Take a duck boat tour or a trolley tour. There's also the public gardens which has the swan boats.
Visiting Red Sox Nation - one of my favorite places, aside from WDW!
Some of my favorite BeanTown memories:
1. Fenway Park - a beloved location for all Red Sox fans! You probably won't be able to secure tickets to a game unless your hotel has connections as they are pretty much sold out! If you are a fan, you may want to consider a tour of Fenway. (RedSox.com) You get to sit in the press box, the 406 club, Monster seats, RedSox dugout and you get to peek inside the Green Monster. If you go on a game day, you may get lucky enough to have one of the players come out of the clubhouse for a visit.
2. Faneuil Hall/Quincy Markey/Freedom Trail
Quincy Market has been a favorite since I was a teenager. Lots of interesting shops. Street entertainers (mostly on the weekend). Very close to the North End (I recommend LaFamiglia for a great Italian dinner and then a walk over to Mike's Bakery for the best canoli on Earth!)
3. Blue Man Group at the Charles Playhouse is a lot of fun. Last time I went I was able to secure 1/2 price tickets the day of the show from the ticket both in the Quincy Market area.
4. Duck Boat Tours are an interesting way to see Boston
5. New England Aquarium is also a fun way to spend an afternoon
Check out Boston.com in the travel section - lots of information there!
Harvard Square itself is quite a place - get out and explore it!
Blue Man Group is a great show. Take a Duck Tour. Visit the Museum of Science (don't miss the Omni Theater). Take the T (Red Line) to "Downtown Crossing" and do some shopping and from there you can walk to the Public Gardens or Faneuil Hall or the Skywalk Observatory at the Prudential Center. You may not be able to get tickets for a Sox game (or have the time), but it's worth going to and buy a Sox sweatshirt at the Souvenir Store!
