| Tuesday May 20, 2008 Day one, Travel Day We got to the bus at 5:15 am and loaded all the suitcases, ice chests and cases of drinks. We had loaded all the props the night before. Let me back up and mention that we were supposed to go in a handicap accessible bus with a lift, but the air conditioner broke down and I was unable to bring the power chair. I was offered a wheelchair but feel very uncomfortable having someone push me. So I decided to just use a cane, BIG MISTAKE. Should have taken the wheel chair. We picked up a few hitchhikers Mrs. Rowe who is over the program in our district and her 2 little boys Landon 5, Parker 7 and Samantha’s little brother Jerry Wayne 10. All the kids were ready for our road trip. We stopped about every 2 hours for potty breaks and to stretch our legs. We also made a stop at McDonald’s for lunch. I was very impressed by the little boys. Everyone was very well behaved. We made it to Knoxville in record time about 7pm, 8pm once we added the hour for Eastern Time. Mrs. Rowe was very happy and said it was the first time she drove in at daylight. We waited by the bus while Mrs. Rowe registered us and got room assignments. The girls started pin trading, OMG, My daughter said she wasn’t interested in pin trading, so I didn’t buy any extras 2nd BIG MISTAKE. She does like pin trading it gives her a reason to talk to cute guys, her words. When Mrs. Rowe came back we found out we were in the dorm across the street and we scored the coveted suite style, 2 rooms with a shared bathroom. She also brought 6 Papa John pizzas, sodas and cookies that are available at registration. Yummy we were hungry, but before we could eat we had to take all the luggage, drinks and snacks to the room. They had me stay with the stuff on the sidewalk while they made the 3 trips up 3 flights of stairs to the elevator. We were on the 8th floor, needless to say very hard to maneuver with a cane. After we got everything sorted out and in our rooms, we went to a common area to eat our pizza, it was very good and made much better by the fact we were all very hungry. After I gave myself a breathing treatment we started showers and making beds. Then we crashed.

| The travel day sounds like an exhausting one.  I hope you're OK without the wheelchair.
