| It's funny how your glasses at lunch had the English brand name of a beverage on them, yet your waiter wouldn't speak English. I hate to think of what you would have ended up with if one of you didn't speak French.

| Wednesday 7 May – part seven: “hey, it’s the Bourne Identity!” When we came off, we walked over the Pont Neuf bridge to the north side of the River Seine. As we did, we saw some traditional French sights, including the Metro sign and one sight that made Steve say “hey, it’s the Bourne Identity!” The Bourne Identity moment! We walked up towards the Louvre and then through it. We hadn’t been through the first courtyard before and it’s stunning and really brings home to you how big it is. The architecture is beautiful. We then walked through to the courtyard with the big pyramid and its smaller cousins, the biggest one of which houses the entrance to the Louvre. If you’ve seen the Da Vinci Code movie – or read the book – then you’ll know this area and Sue’s boss is apparently a big fan, so we had to get lots of photos of her here! Next: “I’ve been dancing with naked statues”

| What a wonderful day in Paris....from the trainride in and the beautiful scenery to the fabulous view from the Eifel Tower (and of course this is highlighted by the great pictures that you took) even to the cafe with the snotty waiter...(it really is such a loss that some act like this - just making the effort goes such a long way, maybe they need to take some lessons from some CM's The river cruise looked amazing, and the afternoon sun really added even more beauty to the photos.... What a nice surprise - having dinner on the Eurostar....looking forward to hearing more. |

| Wednesday 7 May – part eight: “I’ve been dancing with naked statues” We carried on walking and headed into the Tuileries gardens, a wonderful set of formal gardens that used to belong to the Palais des Tuileries – they really are one of the things you must see on any visit to Paris and I love them. Today they looked even better in the beautiful early evening sunlight. Usually we’re here in winter and it’s not nearly so nice when it’s cold – and the last time we were here, we were racing a major downpour and only just made it undercover in time! However, one thing I hadn’t counted on was all the naked statues and the trouble Mark and Steve could get into with those… Sue and I kept walking and we weren’t going that fast, but very soon, we lost sight of them. When they eventually caught up with us, we asked them what on earth they had been up to that put them so far behind us. It wasn’t exactly the answer we were expecting from Mark… “I’ve been dancing with naked statues”. OK then… now that’s one part of the video I can’t wait to see! We walked through the Place de la Concorde. It’s got the longest pedestrian crossing in the world, or so that’s what it feels like anyway. It’s split into about four different bits and there are times when you wonder if you will ever get to the other side of the square! Looking down towards the Assemblee Nationale and the dome of the Hotel des Invalides behind We then headed up the Champs Elysees and the traffic wasn’t too bad. Essentially it’s a six lane highway and usually it’s nose to tail and the noise is just overwhelming, but it wasn’t too bad today. Look what we found – a bus advertising Disneyland Paris The Grand Palais We stopped to get a crepe with sugar, as that’s another French tradition. We all had bits of it and it was very good and helped to keep us going. Next: “this way!”
