Only 22 MORE DAYS to Go! I can't believe it is so close! We went from 2 years ago just a twinkle of an idea of "maybe we should move to Florida" to May 2008 actually seriously looking to move to Florida...to August 4 applying for an apartment and now its August 27th and WE ARE MOVING in 22 DAYS!!!

I have been walking around whistling "zip a dee doo dah" all day every day since we found out we were approved, I only have 7 more days of work to go before I don't have to return and guess what I have done nothing of.... PACKING! That's right folks, we have only 22 days and only about 10 boxes that we packed about 2 months ago full of things that we knew we didn't need and now we have to get serious!

So Tomorrow I will be cleaning out my room, packing up everything that I can and getting at least that done! I will leave enough close for the time between now and the move and the rest will be packed up!

We are going to have family over the weekend of the 12-14th to help pack up the big things but we will have to get the small things packed up to go like the collectibles, and non necessity items.

(is a Wii a necessity or non??....hmmmm I will go with Necessity for now...I need at least 1 other distraction or this wouldn't be an Iamgrumpy report)

As far as our Itinerary and timeline for the actual move I will give you a brief rough draft as we are still working out the details!

Wednesday September 17th
  • Finish packing up our POD and lock it up. Pick up will be in the afternoon at some point.
  • Mom will have her going away party at work, and will finish cleaning off her desk and getting it ready to move down to florida, those boxes etc will go in our car!
  • She will have stayed up all night last night and will go to bed after a quick dinner at my Aunt's house
  • We will be staying at my aunt's and leaving around 1am on the 18th!
Thursday September 18
  • Wake up around Midnight and head out around 1am
  • Drive to Lorton, VA we are hoping to get there between 10-11am.
  • Find something for lunch and go over to the Amtrak Station to check in
The ride on the autotrain takes about 18 hours give or take. So we will spend the time, watching dvds, playing cards, keeping busy and hopefully we will be able to get a little rest on the train. We will go coach as we need to keep costs down!

Friday September 19th

  • The train gets in around 9:30 am
  • Since we have had a long 3 days and a busy 2 weeks we will get a room near the apartment complex or on Disney property whereever we can find a deal and hope that we can get in early. If not then we will just find somewhere to relax.
  • We will spend the night relaxing
Saturday September 20th (MOVE IN DAY)

  • We will be up and at em early, grab a nice breakfast
  • Head over to the apartment complex about 9-9:30 and check in with our Representative.
  • Sign the lease and hopefully be able to move right in!
  • Set up the air mattresses that we have and will have stored in our car
  • Unpack our car and get things cleaned!!!
  • Go Grocery Shopping and stock up the kitchen!
  • Dinner will be something quick and easy and out!
I don't know how fast internet will be hooked up we are hoping as quick as possible since mom will need to work from home but I can hopefully find some free wifi to use until then!

Grandma is staying until the 23rd at least to help us but then will fly back to CT/Mass and hopefully will come down in either Jan or Feb to visit us again!

Up Next... Does amy actually pack anything and does our rough draft itinerary last?

I'm looking forward to reading all about the move. Getting a pod was a good idea, go at your own pace. And how cool that you're going on the autotrain, that will be something new for me to read about. I vote for keeping the Wii out for now, and ha-ha on the cow race, that is a funny one although I'm not that great at it. Hurry back with more in between packing!

1. I am a little jealous Always wanted to go on the autotrain.

2. There is something definitely missing from this trip report. I seem to remember a recent trip report with periodic refreshments

Happy packing

my guess is that the itinerary will stay very close to the same... but the packing? I'm guessing you'll start somewhere late in the day on the 16th....
