im glad that bride wars was good. I cant wait to see it but it doesn't come out here for another week.
Wow, that's scary. We got married 10 years ago (our anniversary this November! ) and our photographer was about £750 - how prices have gone up!

well, it is ALOT of money... buuut as far as other photographers go he is only slightly higher (maybe a couple hundred bucks) and his pictures are amazing. we live in an area that has a lot of, as we affectionately call them, citidiots who commute to the westchester or nyc area... so the prices here can be steep. also our package includes 2 parent albums, our albums, a slew of pictures, proofs, and photography all day. maybe that puts it in perspective? lol. i have no idea how i am going to clip enough coupons to save that much money but i do love me some pb&j.
i could use some pixie for a huge tax return though!

Honestly I think you did pretty well on that deal. I've been quoted $5000 without ANYTHING, no album, not parent albums no rights to pictures, no free engagement session......nothing. So I think you did great! I'm in the middle of "negotiations" with one photographer. His wife is a DJ and if you get them as part of a package the rates are pretty good, separate they are a little steep, the problem is that I like another DJ but I think he is an amazing photographer! So frustrating! But really with your package !

(I loved Bride Wars as well! The reviews haven't been too good, but I thought it was fun and there were some good laughs ....)

for that enormous tax return

Mini Update so someone can share my shock...lol!

We met with the photographer yesterday afternoon.
Our total after tax is $4300!!!!!

Basically we get tons of stuff BUT there were a few upgrades that we needed to like the albums. We got upgrades to mosaic albums for our album and the parent albums, added the internet picture posting for other guests to view our pics, and that basically brought us from the pacakge price of $3600 to the $4000 then tax was the extra $300. He did, however, throw in the full day coverage (which is basically him coming to view me and the girls getting ready not just the ceremony and reception). He also told us we could buy the "rights" to our picture- basically get our prints put on hi-res DVDs for $400 instead of $500 AFTER the wedding!

Add we had to leave a second deposit so I am super broke and just got paid today.
At this point we still owe him $3500.

So the tax return has a lot riding on it these days.

I wish I would have known that sooner, Mel. The photographer who did our wedding covers the Tri-State area and we got all of what you listed. ALL OF IT. We paid $2400. That was two years ago, but my sister is using him this September and I know she is not paying much more than that. : You will just need to make some cutbacks in another area. That's what saving for a wedding is all about

On IRS.gov.....that's where you will find those handy dandy tax tables....if you dont see them email me and i will email you the link. All you need is your very last paystub of the year. You will take those totals minus the deduction and be able to deduce how much you get back......i alreay know my estimated amount which is helping me alot with what i had told you about my car and the cruise So....WOW......i am so thinking of you right now with that hefty photographer bill....here's to hoping the tax refund is awesome for you! Email me and let me know if you need that link

Ouch! I'm sorry about the jump in price. In the end, I'm sure it will be totally worth it, it's just hard to hear at the moment. Can I ask, when you were first talking to the photographer, did you feel pressured to make a decision to hire him or not? The person I'm meeting with on Saturday is very upfront about making us feel as though we are going to "lose" him, I just wondered if you experienced the same thing. for your taxes to help you out - and that those peanut butter and jelly sandwiches taste yummy

Thanks for the info. I am very happy to have found our photographer and our package includes everything we could ever dream of. If I didnt think that he was worth 4k... trust me I wouldnt pay it! lol! I am a PB&J lover so cutbacks will work. We are just in a difficult spot right now with Rob being laid off. But we will be fine after the initial shock blows over at least!

Our photographer didnt make us feel pressure at all. He did sorta dangle the catnip in our faces tho-- like after I saw the mosaic album there was no way I was going to get a traditional one and so after I fell in love with it I found out it was an extra couple hundred bucks. lol. Just dont commit until you are ready. I loved our photographer instantly. I knew I wanted him to do our wedding once I saw his pictures too! But I think with weddings as with life whats meant to be will be. Dont let yourself feel pressured, make the choice because you want to!
