This is really Sheri's (Skateycat's) TR, because I didn't go anywhere -- but I was thrilled to get a few hours to visit with Sheri and to meet her husband (David) on a Sunday afternoon in my home town of St. Louis yesterday!

The Missouri Botanical Garden is always worth visiting, and while I've enjoyed its beauty during all four seasons, I must admit I'd never seen it with quite so much precipitation until yesterday! Glad I brought an extra umbrella for David -- after all, he was our cameraman for the afternoon.

Here are some pics of our soggy but fun time together. The three of walked around and saw most of the garden, despite the rain. And I brought Ducky along -- although the water in all the ponds and fountains was so choppy, I was afraid to let him swim.

Since Miss Sheri had her birthday last week, I presented her with a bag of bday goodies, including a magic wand and a Teddy bear dressed up like a St. Louis Cardinals baseball player. (Since St. Louis is hosting the All Star game tomorrow night, I figured I had to send Sheri home with something related to baseball! )



We were in the garden's restaurant when I took this picture, and a little girl from three tables away was suddenly standing next to us, staring at the wand. Sheri said, "I'm a fairy, and this is my wand," The little girl said, "No, you're not," but she didn't look too sure of herself. She scooted back to her table before Sheri could turn her into a frog.



Then we made David take our pictures in various garden settings -- he had to make himself useful, after all.

(Ducky says, "Don't you mean this is your favorite pic of the THREE of us?" I stand corrected.)


Here's a cute one of Sheri, whose beauty surpasses that of the flowers. Yes, even on a bad hair day!




It was great to see Sheri again. David invited me to come down to their neck of the woods in Florida and said he'd treat me to dinner. I replied, "How about meeting me at Disney World instead?" and he scowled (just a bit -- boy, does he remind me of Rick! ).

wonderful pictures. i love the gardens! glad you guys got to spend time together. its was a regular toad strangler out here in the middle of the state. looks like you got the lighter rain.

Looks like a great day was had by all despite the weather, though sometimes the rain can make things more fun especially with a Ducky in tow!

ha ha ha...just checking in during my last night here in illinois...sawyerville, illinois...population 300. omg...so different than what i am used to, but i so enjoy it here. and it was pouring like a hard fla. afternoon rain....however, we had such a great time. and my handbag was so tres chic! funniest thing i thought was that cindy and i managed to wear virtually the same color of raincoats (mine is borroed from my MIL). and ducky did so enjoy our company, i must admit....

So Sheri, are you saying my raincoat is one prized by 80-year-olds everywhere?

Enjoy the rest of your stay in the Midwest, Kiddo! And we'll start working on a visit to your favorite resort. I hear what you're saying about MVMCP being tons better than MNSSHP, but if I'm going to stay at the YC, I'd like to go when the weather is warm enough to enjoy the cool BC/YC pool amenities. But we have about a year to argue this point! .

Great mini-TR. I haven't been to the Botanical Gardens in quite a few years. When I lived in St. Louis, my mom and I would go a couple of times of year. Love all of your bright colors even in the rain. Thanks for posting!

Great photos! I had such fun meeting you at the Decade of Dreams trip, that I have a good sense of how much fun you must have had on this visit! The wand is definitely a perfect gift for Sheri!

Beth, the weird thing is that we had an exceptionally DRY June -- this has been one crazy year in weather, that's for sure.

What cracked me up for last night's telecast of the All Star game is that St. Louis had a perfect evening for that -- the sun even came out, but it wasn't hot or humid. Once the game was over, the rain started up again and today has been g-r-e-y. Oh well, at least St. Louis looked good on TV!
