| I'll be posting an update tonight! We had to slow the Ecotour down to give Captain Mike a chance to get onboard. He should be hopping on any moment!

| The jellyfish ![]() I had to put my camera down to duck some low branches as the boat moved slowly through the tiny passageway. Without the sound of the engine, you could hear frogs, leaves rustling, and various creatures that slithered and rustled through the brush or plopped into the water. Some of those sounds were pretty loud, IMHO, and it is pretty easy to let your imagination get the best of you. At one point, the boat scraped sand and Captain Mike told us about a few trips where kayaks or canoes had to be carried quite some distance. While I was listening to the scraping and trying to judge if we'd be dragging this boat any time soon, Captain Mike reached down and scooped up a jellyfish. ![]() OK, I thought, this guy must have a pretty high pain threshold because, last time I heard, jellyfish liked to sting. He brought the jellyfish onboard to show us and gave us a little lesson about them. Then he gently placed the critter back into the water and it drifted away. ![]()

| The Marvin D. Adams Waterway The great thing about this Ecotour was the variety. Each segment left you wanting more and, before you knew it, you were off to something completely different! The next leg of our journey was The Marvin D. Adams Waterway. This was created in 1957 to provide a passage between the Atlantic and the Intracoastal Waterway. As we passed through, you could see where this was actually cut as a path. The walls started low, then got taller. I imagine you could ride this passageway a hundred times and always see something new. ![]() ![]() We passed by a chair. I wonder who, from time to time, must sit there and watch. ![]() ![]() We drifted by a bird who didn't seem at all concerned. ![]() ![]() The walls grew taller and we saw more houses and people. ![]() ![]() ![]() There were some formations that reminded me of the Pirates of The Carribbean attraction at Disney World. ![]() ![]() ![]() My camera didn't even BEGIN to capture all the amazing sights and sounds. You really had to be there!

| Sandy, your trip looks like a wonderful experience. Some of us disneyphiles only look at Disney when we think about a trip to Florida. Your TR shows how wrong we can be when we don't look at other options. I lived in the Keys for a few months back in the late 60s. I found that driving around the back roads provided a lot of memorable sights. Looking forward to seeing more of your trip.
