My sister lives in Jersey City, just across from Manhattan, with a great view of the river. Every so often we stand at her dining room window watching the cruise ships leave (and getting jealous of all those people who are going on vacation ). I'll have her wave goodbye to you for me as you drift on by Hope you have a great trip!!!
How fun!!
I love cruising and think it would be the perfect solo trip. I am very curious to hear your thoughts on the dining (kind of peeves me that some of the cruise lines are steering towards that option...I like having wonderful food included in my price tag). Here is a packing pixie for you

i have high hopes that it will be a good solo trip. i'm super friendly, so that should help. and yes, i'm a tad concerned about the dining. i do plan to do some of the 'extra' restaurants. i will be sure to report back with a DETAILED comparison. with photos.
thanks for the packing pixie! i did find some motivation today, so i'm about 3/4 packed and have a checklist made of the things that still need to go in the suitcase. i'm either taking way too much or super not enough...i'm honestly not sure which!
I've read and highlighted an entire Bermuda guide book and just now I got my (super-speedy) free Bermuda tourism guide (complete with map) and I'm officially and totally....overwhelmed!
I'm trying to come up with two plans--one for if I rent a scooter and one for if I don't. It's not easy. And I'm basically trying to fit EVERYTHING in to the three days I have there. That's not going to work--right? Someone tell me to stop!

STOP!!! YOU CANNOT SEE EVERYTHING SO DO NOT EVEN TRY. LOL
My suggestion is to close the guide book for the night and look at it with fresh eyes in the morning. Pick the 3 main areas of Bermuda you want to see (one for each day), then pick 2-4 things in each of those areas that you REALLY want to see (depending on how long they take to do). Once you are able to see those, everything else you do is gravy. And those things you do above and beyond the 2-4 you planned for should be completely unplanned ... and guess which ones you will probably enjoy the most?

ok. thank you. i needed that. it was getting WAY out of control. it doesn't help that i'm leaving in something like 60 hours! i will post my new, extremely paired back plan after dinner.

Hehe ... glad I could help!! I am excited to see the new plan, no matter what you do you will be in paradise, which will be totally awesome!
That's great advice - picking just a couple things for each day, and focusing on a different area each day. Don't overwhelm yourself, or set yourself up to fail by having an impossible list! That's not fun, that's Paris!

Well gee...nothing is going well tonight. I had to throw dinner away. And I had a cup of fake noodle soup for lunch and nothing for breakfast...so now I'm starving. So I guess I'll just super look forward to lunch on Sunday on the ship...?
Sorry. Don't mean to be negative. I'm just really hungry and have nothing worthy of eating.
Anyway...here are my plans...extremely paired-down. I'm hoping to be able to add to this and/or alter it to allow for the possibility of a scooter rental if I determine a scooter rental to be a good idea. The plan is to go to the scooter rental place first thing on day one and test drive one. If I feel at all uncomfortable with it, I will not rent one. But really, I've been on motorcycles on I-80, going 130 mph (NOT recommended!) I think I'll be fine...but I realize that I'm older now and may not be. So we shall see! Yet another reason to tune in for my post-Trip Report!
My current plans:
(note: they are not day-dependent, as the weather will impact which days I choose to do which things)
-One Day: Ferry to St. George. Do Walking tour. Look into a bus to Tobacco bay in the afternoon.
-One Day: Ferry to Hamilton. Do Walking tour. Look into a bus to Botanical Gardens; stop at Fort Hamilton on way back.
-One Day: Bus to Horseshoe Bay Beach. Walk length of beach, take pics. Snorkel.

Awww sorry about dinner!! I hate it when there is nothing in the house that I really want to eat .... When that happens, I usually say to myself "Self, you are an adult, you have a car, and money and you can buy anything in the grocery store that you want." then I make a run to the store for some Strawberry Cheesecake Ben & Jerry's .... cheers me right up!!
I love your new schedule!! Gives you a great idea of the things that are most important for you to experience while leaving it wide open to actual experience them. I know you will have the time of your life.
Cheers!
Rachel
PS I have a feeling you and a scooter will become close buddies on this trip
